The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pawel Pawlak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pawlak changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Boy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Boy is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Pawlak is looking to take a break and control but Boy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Pawlak might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Boy haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Pawlak creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Boy takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Pawlak grinds an elbow into Boy's temple. Pawlak has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Boy is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Pawlak is looking to take a break and control but Boy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Pawlak landing strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pawlak is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Boy is trying to escape and Pawlak transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Boy is forced to tap! Nice work there by Pawlak! Very nice indeed!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Pawel Pawlak!
