Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mason Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Richard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mason Marshall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Richard! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Richard gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Marshall counters with a takedown into side control. You can see the frustration on Richard's face as Marshall controls the position. Richard struggling a bit here. Marshall advances nicely into full mount. Marshall controlling his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Richard tries to reverse the position but Marshall maintains control.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Mason Marshall wasn't doing enough on the ground. Richard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Marshall counters with a shoot takedown. Richard fights it but they end up in guard. Marshall got a little sloppy there for a moment and Richard has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Marshall has managed to get both his arms back between Richard's legs - danger averted. Marshall has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Richard is looking for a triangle but Marshall pushes his legs off easily.
Richard is adopting a defensive guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Richard being controlled here, momentarily. Marshall's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marshall seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Richard for as long as he can get away with.
Mason Marshall has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Marshall defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Richard. Mason Marshall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Richard. Richard misses with a takedown attempt and Marshall counters with a nice double leg into guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Marshall stays in close to Richard's body and controls the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mason Marshall dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Richard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown so Marshall counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Marshall not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Richard is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Mason Marshall just wasn't active enough. Richard with a poor takedown and Marshall counters with a takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Marshall moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Richard is looking for a sweep. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. The referee asks Marshall politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Marshall prefers to stall for the moment though. Richard is looking to reverse the position. Richard wants to control but Marshall postures up. Marshall taking a breather here.

Mason Marshall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Richard. Richard shoots and misses and Marshall decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Richard's guard. Richard can't keep his opponent in guard - Marshall advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Marshall looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
We're going to have a standup here because Mason Marshall wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Richard shoots in and drives through. Marshall sprawls well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marshall stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Marshall wants it to stay on the feet. Richard gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Marshall counters by clinching up. Richard changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Marshall fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Richard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mason Marshall dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Richard shoots and misses and Marshall holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Marshall lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Marshall moves nicely into side control. Richard tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Marshall wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Richard struggling a bit here. Marshall has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Richard! Marshall sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Richard tries to lock up and control but Marshall gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Marshall is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Richard can do to turn this around?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marshall controlling from mount. Mason Marshall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Mason Marshall wasn't doing enough on the ground. Richard dives in and grabs Marshall's left leg, looking for a takedown. Marshall pushes down on Richard's head and hops out. Mike Richard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Richard with a lazy takedown attempt and Marshall counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Mason Marshall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Richard. Richard is trying to control the position but Marshall postures up. Marshall pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Richard is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marshall is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Marshall has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Mason Marshall just wasn't active enough. Richard misses with a takedown attempt - Marshall sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Richard with a lazy takedown attempt and Marshall counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Marshall. Richard is fighting off a takedown attempt but Marshall is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Richard to the mat. Richard regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Richard looking for a sweep. Not yet Richard, not yet. Richard can't keep his opponent in guard - Marshall advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Marshall is controlling the pace.
And that's the end of the fight! Mason Marshall showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Marshall, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
