The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sweet was covering up waiting for the punch and Cruz finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sweet is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Sweet is trying to keep Cruz in close.
Sweet really is a fat lump.
Cruz passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Cruz is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sweet knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Cruz thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cruz is working to tighten his grip on Sweet's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Sweet has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Cruz is really squeezing tight and eventually Sweet passes out! Cruz breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
