Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Javier Martinez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ondrej Rigo! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martinez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Martinez throws a sloppy head kick and Rigo moves out of range easily. Martinez throws a series of punches but Rigo avoids them all with ease. Martinez lands a head kick. Rigo smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
It looks like Ondrej Rigo has been cut. Rigo's coach down at Zero Tolerance was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rigo's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Martinez lands a body shot.
Martinez is looking to clinch but Rigo is avoiding it.
Martinez misses with a wild body shot. Martinez throws a leg kick but Rigo sees it coming and checks it nicely. Rigo looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Martinez! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Rigo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Rigo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Martinez, who protects the arm well. Rigo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rigo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rigo has hold of Martinez's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Martinez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Rigo cranks the arm and Martinez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Martinez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
