PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Rowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knk Lnl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Knk Lnl told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rowe dives in and scores a takedown into Lnl's guard.

Lnl throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Lnl throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rowe looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.


It looks like Jon Rowe has been cut.

Lnl looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Lnl wants to work for an arm triangle but Rowe is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Rowe is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lnl scores with a couple of nice shots.
Lnl seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rowe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rowe wants to improve his position but Lnl is controlling well.

Rowe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Lnl tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rowe knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Rowe is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lnl's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lnl's back!
Knk Lnl has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rowe connects with a big shot to the side of Lnl's head.
Lnl can't escape the position.

Lnl breaks Rowe's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Lnl throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rowe was covering up waiting for the punch and Lnl finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Rowe is looking to stand up but Lnl isn't so interested in that idea.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Knk Lnl showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Rowe fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rowe wants to land a leg kick but Lnl is out of range.
Lnl moves out of range of the leg kick from Rowe.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lnl shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lnl was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Lnl is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rowe knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Lnl is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Lnl lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Rowe down.

Lnl decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rowe to his feet.
Rowe tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Lnl lands with a light punch inside.

Knk Lnl comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lnl has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
