Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mookie Blaylock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Donatello Bradman and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Blaylock loads up on a big right hand but Mir slips the punch.
Mir moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Mookie Blaylock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blaylock looks to land a left hand but Mir moved out of range nicely.
Blaylock doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Blaylock swings for the body but Mir moves out of range.
Blaylock misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mir.
Mir tries to clinch
and Blaylock counters with a lovely straight right hand!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Blaylock connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Blaylock tries a head kick but it misses.
Blaylock slips a jab and a cross from Mir.
Blaylock keeps Mir at a distance using the push kick.
Blaylock wants to clinch but Mir slips to the side

and Mir counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mir.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Blaylock wants to sweep here but Mir controlling him for the moment.
Mir passes Blaylock's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Mir prevents Blaylock from improving his position.
Mir is thwarting Blaylock's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blaylock slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Mir wanted to stand there but Blaylock had control of the position.

Blaylock has his hands on Mir's head, controlling the position.

Mir postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Blaylock is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mir, into his guard.
Blaylock controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Mir has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Blaylock is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mir.

Mir is looking to regain half guard here but Blaylock keeps moving and retains side control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Blaylock wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mir keeps working.
Mir tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Blaylock wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mir can't do much from the bottom here.
Blaylock is looking to take a break and control but Mir is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mir is looking to regain half guard here but Blaylock keeps moving and retains side control.
Blaylock controls the position.
Blaylock laying and praying for a moment but Mir takes advantage and regains half guard.
Blaylock looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Mir wants to control but Blaylock is keeping busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Mookie Blaylock will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Mir decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Blaylock's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Blaylock looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mir is one step ahead there.

Mir tries to free his leg and advance position but Blaylock is retaining full guard.

Blaylock lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mir!

Blaylock seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mir does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Blaylock tries to score with some ground and pound. Mir controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Blaylock misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mir is not content to let Blaylock control the position.
Mir is trying to control Blaylock's posture but Blaylock avoids it.

The ground and pound from Blaylock seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Blaylock is looking to take a break and control but Mir is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Blaylock throwing strikes here but Mir is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Blaylock cracks Mir with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Blaylock is looking to clinch but Mir is avoiding it.
Blaylock throws a sloppy head kick and Mir moves out of range easily.
Mir scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Mookie Blaylock has been cut.
Mir avoids the head kick by Blaylock.
Blaylock throws a chopping leg kick but Mir manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
We've been told by Blaylock's head coaches at Beast II that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Frank Mir is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Blaylock scores with a jab. Mir acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A combination from Blaylock does no damage.
Mir fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Blaylock feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mirs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Blaylock buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A jab from Mir does it's job there.
Blaylock dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Blaylock uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mir.
Blaylock lands a front kick.
Mir takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Blaylock throws a half hearted mid kick.
Mir circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mir misses with a hook.

Blaylock sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Mir to the ground! Blaylock dives into full mount looking to finish!


Mir is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Blaylock connects with a bit shot that sees Mir covering up! More strikes from Blaylock and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Blaylock is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mookie Blaylock!
