Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Clark Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kent comes to the ring accompanied by John Williams- Superman March. Jeremy Pettis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Clark Kent! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Jeremy Pettis! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kent shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pettis as he avoids it easily. Kent ducks under a wild hook from Pettis. Kent has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Sun Tzu's Art of War in the buildup to the fight. Pettis uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Pettis blocks a jab. Kent misses the shot to the body. Kent ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Kent walks into a jab. Kent looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pettis is fending him off so far but Kent persists. Nope, Pettis circles away and we're back to standing. Kent shoots in but Pettis avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clark Kent. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kent shoots in looking for a takedown but Pettis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kent's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Kent tries for a takedown but Pettis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Pettis looks to land a left hand but Kent moved out of range nicely. Kent tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pettis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kent somewhat. Kent fails to land the takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. No luck for Kent with that takedown attempt. The fighters circle momentarily. Pettis darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Kent changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pettis tries to avoid it but Kent manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pettis to the ground. Pettis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Pettis is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kent. Horrible takedown by Kent or perhaps it was just good defense by Pettis which made him look bad. Kent misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Kent fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Pettis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Kent shoots in for a double leg but Pettis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pettis throws a hook to the side of Kent's head but Kent sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Pettis is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kent. Kent shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pettis's guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Kent stops Pettis from standing up. Kent throws a strike but Pettis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. This has been an exciting period of action! Kent has a closed guard, preventing Pettis from standing up. Kent trying to keep a closed guard but Pettis is proving a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kent is on top in guard.
Kent in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Kent working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Kent trying to control but Pettis is working from the bottom. Kent might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Kent lands a couple of decent looking shots. Kent with a flurry of punches that miss. Pettis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Pettis keeping moving, preventing Kent from controlling successfully. Pettis is looking to stand up but Kent isn't so interested in that idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kent accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kent postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kent working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. That was a close round but I would say that Clark Kent will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.
Kent shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pettis napping and manages to drive through into side control! Kent in side control lands a decent elbow. Pettis is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Pettis explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Pettis has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Kent is landing a low percentage of strikes. Kent tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pettis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kent somewhat. Pettis digs a good hook to Kent's body.
Kent dives in and grabs Pettis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pettis pushes down on Kent's head and hops out. Pettis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kent. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clark Kent. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kent closes the distance and clinches up with Pettis, looking for a takedown. Kent pushes Pettis against the ropes but Pettis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice uppercut there from Pettis. Kent fails with the takedown enabling Pettis to counter with a crisp jab. Kent shoots in but Pettis avoids the takedown attempt easily. Kent misses with a takedown attempt enabling Pettis to counter with a crisp jab. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pettis lands a right hook to the body.
Kent on the wrong end of a nice jab. A slow jab from Pettis misses its intended target. Pettis throws a shot from downtown. Kent moves away and avoids it. Kent is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pettis's half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pettis is refusing to be controlled, as Kent sits in half guard. Pettis tries to kick Kent off but Kent keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kent thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Kent stops Pettis from getting back to his feet.
Kent slips a nice elbow through Pettis's hands, connecting with Pettis's forehead. Kent missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Kent tries to pass to full mount but Pettis defends it. Kent thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kent connects with a nice short shot to Pettis's temple. Kent throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Kent sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Pettis defending well though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kent is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Pettis tries to kick Kent off but Kent keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Pettis is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Kent not landing any meaningful shots this time. Kent is looking to take a break and control but Pettis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kent is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Kent missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Kent landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Kent thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Kent winds up and cracks Pettis with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Kent thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pettis's head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pettis avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kent. Kent winds up and cracks Pettis with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Pettis is rocked! Kent is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Pettis is still in real trouble! Can Kent finish him? Kent lands strikes from half guard. Kent slips a nice elbow through Pettis's hands, connecting with Pettis's forehead. Kent frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Kent looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Pettis covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
