Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Matrix! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eddie Torrez! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Torrez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Matrix. Torrez moves out of range as Matrix strikes. Matrix lands a front kick. Torrez misses with a low kick.
Torrez dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Torrez scores with a hook to the body. Matrix takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Torrez throws a right and a left that Matrix avoids nicely. Matrix jabbing away but nothing is landing. Torrez misses with a kick to the body.
Torrez scores with a one two! Matrix had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Matrix misses with an attempted mid kick.
Matrix seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Matrix throws the left hand but Torrez avoids the punch easily. Matrix throws a shot from downtown. Torrez moves away and avoids it. Torrez scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Matrix scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matrix attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Torrez bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Matrix tests Torrez's chin there with a solid looking shot. Matrix motions for Torrez to come forward. Matrix throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Torrez walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Torrez throws the left hand but Matrix avoids the punch easily. A punch combination from Matrix misses. Matrix throws a leg kick but Torrez moved away. Matrix ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Matrix scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Matrix. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Torrez takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Torrez tries to improve position but can't. Matrix has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Matrix sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Torrez is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Torrez is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Matrix is looking to take a break and control but Torrez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Matrix will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Torrez takes a swing at Matrix's ribcage but misses. Matrix ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Torrez blocks the body kick.
Torrez throws a looping overhand right but Matrix ducks down to avoid it. Matrix throws an overhand right that lands on Torrez's shoulder, as Torrez tries to avoid the shot. Matrix throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Eddie Torrez seems to be getting the better of the standup. Matrix thows a body shot but no joy. Nice defenses there by Matrix. Torrez fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Matrix on the side of the head. Torrez throws a leg kick so Matrix counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Torrez has his feet on Matrix's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Matrix moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Matrix shoots in but no luck this time. Torrez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Matrix cracks Torrez with a good jab. Matrix's corner calls for a 1-2. Matrix obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Matrix showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Torrez.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A combination from Torrez does no damage. Matrix throws a chopping leg kick but Torrez manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Torrez jabs at Matrix's body. Matrix takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Matrix has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Torrez finds it's way round the side to connect with Matrix's head. Nice sprawl there from Torrez as Matrix shoots in. Torrez checks the leg kick nicely there.

Matrix tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Torrez defends well and Matrix ends up having to push Torrez into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Matrix. That's going to take a lot out of him. Torrez can't find room to land a body shot as Matrix controls the action.

Matrix misses the jab. Torrez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Matrix scores with a push kick. Torrez waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Matrix. Torrez lands a nice hook to Matrix's body. Matrix takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Matrix tries a low kick but Torrez avoids it. Matrix cracks Torrez with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. John Matrix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Matrix just misses with a punch to the body.

Matrix fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Torrez manages to avoid it. Torrez misses with a hook. Matrix ducked under it nicely. Matrix connects with a solid leg kick. Eddie Torrez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Matrix cracks Torrez with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Matrix lands a lovely overhand right. Torrez throws a right hand that Matrix ducks under and follows up with a left that Matrix also avoids with ease. Matrix closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Matrix moves away from the strike by Torrez. Matrix scores with a jab to the head.

Matrix shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Torrez tries to bum rush Matrix with a series of wild strikes but Matrix uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Matrix's jab looks to have found its range, popping Torrez under the eye. That's one minute gone in the round. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Matrix, as that shot connected.

He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Matrix seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Torrez has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Matrix looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Torrez is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Matrix manages to get to full guard. Torrez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Matrix has control of Torrez's left arm, preventing Torrez from doing any damage. That's three minutes gone in the round. Torrez wants to stand but Matrix has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Matrix tries to land a sweep but no joy. Torrez wants to stand and escape but instead Matrix has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Matrix tries to free his leg and advance position but Torrez is retaining full guard. Matrix trying to control the position from guard on top but Torrez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Matrix trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Matrix throws a big elbow that misses. Matrix keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Torrez's head. Matrix wants to control from the top but Torrez keeps moving. Matrix looking to sit in guard and control but Torrez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Torrez wants to stand and escape but instead Matrix has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Matrix trying to control but Torrez is working from the bottom. Torrez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! John Matrix showed his dominance in that final round. I think Matrix has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. The defeated Eddie Torrez had this to say: 'I've got to talk to my family and my coaches to evaluate my future. I may still be young, but my record as of late has me questioning if I am in the right line of work.'.
