Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Budda Boy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Landry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Budda Boy has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Budda Boy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Wes Landry!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boy throws a nice looking combination but Landry bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Boy throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Boy throws a right hand that Landry ducks under and follows up with a left that Landry also avoids with ease.
Landry throws a head kick that misses.

Landry closes the distance and clinches.
A frustrated look appears on Boy's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Boy on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Boy is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Landry goes for a takedown in the clinch but Boy prevents it.

Landry breaks the clinch.
Budda Boy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boy jabs Landry to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Boy avoids the head kick by Landry.
Boy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Landry misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Boy lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Boy seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Boy throws a series of punches but Landry moves out of range.
Landry changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boy tries to avoid it but Landry manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boy to the ground. Boy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Budda Boy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wes Landry.

Landry is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Landry will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Boy goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Donk. Boy catches Landry right on the button with a cross.
Budda Boy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Landry forces Boy back against the cage and clinches.
Landry tries to score a body lock takedown but Boy shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Boy can't break the clinch.

Landry has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Boy uses from the top position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Boy wants to stand but Landry is controlling his posture from full guard.

Boy stands and steps away. Landry gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Landry takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Boy gets caught flat footed, as Landry shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Boy is breathing heavily.
Boy is looking to stand up but Landry isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Landry postures up in Boy's guard and throws a big left but Boy blocks it.

Boy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Landry is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Boy is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Boy has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boy looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Landry wants to control from the top but Boy keeps moving.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Wes Landry.
Landry looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Boy throws a right hand that Landry ducks under and follows up with a left that Landry also avoids with ease.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Landry clinches.
Boy wants to break the clinch but can't.
Boy can't break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Budda Boy dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Boy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Boy misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Landry is trying hard to land a takedown here. Boy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Boy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Landry circles away quickly and effectively.

Boy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Landry fails to land the takedown.
Budda Boy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wes Landry.
Landry shoots in looking for a takedown but Boy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Landry's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Boy stuns Landry with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Landry dives in for a single leg takedown but Boy sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Landry gets control of Boy's arms and successfully pulls guard. Landry will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Landry working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Boy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Boy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Landry had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Boy defends it easily.

Boy tries to stand and escape but Landry is controlling the position.

Boy throws a right and a left that both miss.
Boy lands a jab-cross combination.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Boy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Landry was well out of range. Poor timing from Boy.

Landry ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Landry no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Landry can do anything to dispel that myth.

Boy stands up and waves to Landry to follow him.
Boy is looking to wear down Landry with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Budda Boy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Landry tries a low kick but Boy avoids it.
Landry changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boy tries to avoid it but Landry manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boy to the ground. Boy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Landry tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Boy is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Landry tries to close the distance and clinch but Boy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Boy throws a combination. Landry tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Landry closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Boy's guard.
Landry wants to control from the top but Boy keeps moving.
Boy seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Budda Boy will probably get the nod.
That's time! Boy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Boy throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Landry stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Boy feints a jab promting Landry to slip. Boy then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Landry slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Boy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

No luck for Landry with that takedown attempt.

Boy slaps away a takedown attempt from Landry, before circling back to the center of the mat.

The fight stays on the outside here - Landry looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Landry shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Boy as he jumps to the side.
Landry tries to close the distance and clinch but Boy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Landry shoots in for a takedown but Boy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Landry throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Boy's waist but Boy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Landry off to one side.

Boy feints a jab promting Landry to slip. Boy then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Landry slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
No luck for Landry with that takedown attempt.

Landry shoots in but no luck this time.
Landry takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Boy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Landry to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Landry won't allow Boy to get back to his feet.
Budda Boy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Landry loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Wes Landry has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Landry wants to get up but he can't break Boy's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Budda Boy.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Boy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
