The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piper slips a jab from Inprogress.

Piper closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Piper working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Inprogress manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Piper manages to get himself to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Piper can do anything to dispel that myth.

Inprogress is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Piper's shoulder. That is not cool.
Piper tries to bench press Inprogress off him but Inprogress keeps the position.

Piper is looking to regain half guard here but Inprogress keeps moving and retains side control.

Inprogress has hold of Piper's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Piper tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Inprogress cranks the arm and Piper screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Piper, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Roddy Piper was interviewed post fight and said 'He cheated, and I let him win anyway. My opponent was and remains a bum. Piss off.'.
