Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ed Bavelock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lyndon Russell!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bavelock throws a right and a left that Russell avoids nicely.
Russell tries for a takedown but Bavelock sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Bavelock misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Bavelock counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Bavelock swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bavelock slaps away a takedown attempt from Russell, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ed Bavelock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lyndon Russell.

Russell closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bavelock quickly recovers to half guard.

Russell avoids a punch combination nicely.

Russell closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Russell is defended easily by Bavelock.

Bavelock throws a series of punches but Russell moves out of range.

Russell closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bavelock to the mat! Bavelock manages to get full guard.

Russell decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Russell fails with a takedown attempt.
Bavelock misses with a double jab.
Russell gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bavelock counters with a left to the body.
Bavelock throws a right and a left that Russell avoids nicely.
Russell tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bavelock sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Russell somewhat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bavelock drives through and clinches with Russell against the cage.
Bavelock manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Bavelock misses with a punch to the body.
Russell is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Bavelock is defending well.
Bavelock tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Russell is trying to drag Bavelock to the mat but Bavelock just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
I was talking to Bavelock's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Bavelock doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Russell tries to score a body lock takedown but Bavelock shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Russell ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Russell no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bavelock drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Russell manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bavelock has Russell in his guard.

Bavelock wants to hit a switch here but Russell passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Bavelock there!
Bavelock keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Russell manages to capitalize on a mistake by Bavelock to take his back!
Bavelock trying to control the position but Russell manages to sink in the hooks.
Bavelock rolls, trying to escape but Russell keeps control of the position.
Bavelock trying to control the hands but Russell breaks the grip.
Bavelock wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lyndon Russell will probably get the nod.

Horrible takedown attempt by Russell or perhaps it was just good defense by Bavelock, which made it look bad.

Bavelock drops Russell with a beautiful combination! Russell stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Bavelock is looking for the KO!


It looks like Lyndon Russell has been cut.
Russell shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bavelock sprawls well. Bavelock wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Russell gets slowly back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Russell shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bavelock as he avoids it easily.
Russell drops his hands for a split second and Bavelock immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Russell face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Bavelock follows up with a right hand that knocks Russell into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ed Bavelock!
