Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, George Ramierez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michel Teló! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Teló punishes Ramierez's body with a nice straight punch. Teló lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. A cross from Teló lands.
It looks like George Ramierez has been cut. Ramierez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Ramierez fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Teló is holding Ramierez down, trying to stall. Teló can't do much from the bottom here. Teló felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Ramierez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Teló knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Teló struggling a bit here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Teló gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Ramierez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Teló defends it well. Teló is doing well to control the position and prevent Ramierez from advancing to side control. Teló blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ramierez. Teló is pressing down on Ramierez's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Teló is trying to control the position but Ramierez postures up. Teló keeping moving, preventing Ramierez from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Teló is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Ramierez looking to pass the guard. Ramierez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Teló works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ramierez postures up in Teló's guard and throws a big left but Teló blocks it. Ramierez working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Teló's head. Ramierez throws a big right hand that misses. Ramierez with a flurry of punches that miss. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Ramierez throws a big right hand that misses. Teló looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ramierez is one step ahead there.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Teló scores with a hook.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ramierez dives in for a single leg takedown but Teló sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Teló scores with a shoulder strike.
Ramierez is rocked! Teló lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Ramierez to his knees! Teló keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
