Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cearul Chulainn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Project Charlie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cearul Chulainn could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Project Charlie's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cearul Chulainn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Project Charlie!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chulainn tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Charlie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Cearul Chulainn has been cut.
Chulainn fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Chulainn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Chulainn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chulainn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Chulainn scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Charlie tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Charlie seems keen to control Chulainn's posture.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chulainn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Chulainn is looking to pass into half guard but Charlie pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Charlie is in guard.

Chulainn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Chulainn wants to get back to his feet but Charlie passes into half guard.
Charlie is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Chulainn is staying active underneath Charlie, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Charlie seems to be working for a kimura but Chulainn defends the submission attempt.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Charlie can do anything to dispel that myth.
Charlie wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Charlie is trying to control but can't.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Charlie wants to control the action here but instead Chulainn manages to pass to full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chulainn unloads with some shots from mount but Charlie bucks and avoids them well.
A nice elbow there by Chulainn.
Charlie tries to lock up and control but Chulainn gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Charlie is working to get back to half guard.
Chulainn pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Charlie keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Chulainn keeping hold of Charlie's head, controlling as best he can.
Chulainn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Chulainn is trying to stand.
Charlie tries to pass the half guard into mount. Chulainn knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Charlie is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Chulainn doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Charlie.
Charlie seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chulainn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Chulainn avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Charlie misses with a right hand
and Chulainn counters by moving into the clinch.
Chulainn wants a takedown but no success here.
Chulainn's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Charlie breaks the clinch.
Chulainn fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cearul Chulainn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Charlie dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Chulainn. That did some damage!

Chulainn takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Horrible takedown attempt by Chulainn or perhaps it was just good defense by Charlie, which made it look bad.
Charlie lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Charlie, right into the meat.
Chulainn tries to clinch but Charlie is having none of it.
Charlie throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Chulainn on the side of the head.
Chulainn takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Charlie has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Chulainn is landing a low percentage of strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chulainn misses with a takedown attempt - Charlie sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Project Charlie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Charlie connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Chulainn's hands.
Chulainn shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Charlie as he jumps to the side.

letting Charlie counter with a right hand.
Chulainn tries to clinch there but Charlie circles away.

Charlie is trying to control Chulainn's posture but Chulainn avoids it.

Chulainn is trying to ground and pound but Charlie uses the momentary lack of control by Chulainn to regain half guard.

Charlie is trying to maintain the position but Chulainn is very close to passing his half guard.
Charlie tries to get to full guard but Chulainn has control of the leg.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Chulainn thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Charlie's head.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Charlie throws a big shot that misses.
Charlie wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Chulainn on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Charlie wants to land a leg kick but Chulainn is out of range.
Charlie scores with a nice strike.
Chulainn will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Charlie connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Chulainn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Charlie sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Chulainn somewhat.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Project Charlie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Charlie has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Chulainn takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Charlie dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Chulainn with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Charlie to score with a decent uppercut.

Chulainn shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chulainn throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Charlie to regain full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Charlie is on top in guard.
Charlie drops back looking for a leg! Chulainn is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chulainn manages to kick Charlie off! Charlie jumps back into Chulainn's guard.
Charlie slips nicely into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight!
Project Charlie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Charlie has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
