Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Anthony Pettis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Magic Magic!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Dirk Anderson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis throws a combination that misses
and Magic cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Pettis lands a glancing blow to the side of Magic's head.
Magic tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Pettis counters with a straight right hand.
Magic tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pettis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Magic takes a kick to the side of the head.

Pettis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pettis showed some decent athleticism there.
Pettis content to control rather than advance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pettis has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Pettis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pettis scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Magic?
Pettis controlling the position easily from mount.
Pettis has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Magic's face.
Pettis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Pettis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Magic for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pettis avoids the attempt from Magic to control.
Pettis breaks from Magic's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Pettis controlling the position easily from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pettis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Anthony Pettis has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Pettis throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Magic doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Pettis counters with a flying knee. Nice.


Magic is rocked!
Pettis circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Magic to the canvas! Magic doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Pettis keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Anthony Pettis!
