The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gallas fails with a takedown attempt.
Patterson misses with a takedown attempt - Gallas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Patterson throws a series of punches but Gallas avoids them all with ease.
A telegraphed right hand from Gallas misses the target.
Gallas darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Gallas is trying to work for a kimura but Patterson is defending well.
Patterson looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Gallas is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Patterson tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Patterson tries to hold on but Gallas postures up.
Patterson is trying desperately to improve position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Patterson wants to control but Gallas is having none of it.
Gallas is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Patterson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Gallas goes for an armbar but Patterson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Patterson.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Gallas looking for a guillotine here but Patterson defends easily.
Gallas looks gassed!
Patterson with a flurry of punches that miss.
Patterson is pushing down on Gallas's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gallas is fighting to maintain full guard but Patterson has managed to sneak the leg through.

Gallas tries to roll over but Patterson keeps him under control.
Gallas is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Patterson is trying to work for a kimura but Gallas is defending well.
Patterson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gallas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Patterson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Gallas defend it? Patterson steps over the head and cranks it - Gallas is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Patterson!
