PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Junior Sasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timothy Mcgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcgee is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: McGee. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Junior Sasi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Timothy Mcgee!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sasi takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Sasi throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Mcgee finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Sasi shoots and misses

and Mcgee counters by clinching up.
Mcgee creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Sasi's defenses.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Mcgee has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Sasi has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mcgee avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Sasi wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Junior Sasi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mcgee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mcgee lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sasi at a distance.
Mcgee connects with a body shot that sends Sasi's belly button to the back.
Mcgee fails to land with a series of punches.
Sasi's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mcgee connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sasi scrambles back to his feet.
Sasi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mcgee defends it nicely.
Mcgee doesn't manage to clinch there - Sasi circles away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mcgee changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Mcgee throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Mcgee throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Mcgee fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Timothy Mcgee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mcgee.

Mcgee wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sasi, who protects the arm well.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mcgee is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sasi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Sasi wants to get back to his feet but Mcgee drags him back down.

Mcgee tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Mcgee working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Mcgee lands a nice forearm strike.
Mcgee wants to control but Sasi is keeping him busy.
Mcgee creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Sasi is working to avoid the ground and pound but Mcgee connects with a decent elbow.
Sasi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mcgee on the ground.
Mcgee tries to score with some ground and pound. Sasi controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Mcgee is looking to take a break and control but Sasi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sasi pushes Mcgee away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mcgee gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Mcgee decides to take the fight back to the feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mcgee shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mcgee showed some decent athleticism there.
Mcgee is trying to control. Sasi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Mcgee has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sasi is trying to stand back up but Mcgee is controlling him
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mcgee tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sasi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mcgee throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Sasi.
Mcgee lands a right hook to the body.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Mcgee - that will leave a mark!
Mcgee fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Sasi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Mcgee lands a right hook to the body.
Mcgee scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sasi doesn't seem bothered though.
Mcgee lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Mcgee has closed the distance and engaged Sasi in a clinch.

Mcgee breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mcgee moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sasi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mcgee manages to avoid it.

Mcgee has taken the fight to the clinch.

Mcgee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Mcgee is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sasi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mcgee swivels and escapes.
Sasi throws a lazy uppercut
and Mcgee counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Mcgee is looking to slow Sasi down with leg kicks.
Mcgee moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Sasi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mcgee to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Sasi is working an open guard so Mcgee takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Mcgee.
Sasi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mcgee as he jumps to the side.
Mcgee lands with a shot to the body.
Mcgee tries to clinch up but Sasi circles away and keeps his distance.
Sasi takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Sasi gets caught napping as Mcgee dives in and scores a takedown. Sasi manages to retain guard.

Mcgee thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcgee trying to control but Sasi is working from the bottom.

Mcgee drops back looking for a leg! Sasi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sasi manages to kick Mcgee off! Mcgee jumps back into Sasi's guard.

Sasi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sasi tries to get out of the position.

Mcgee has gone for a leg lock! Sasi slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mcgee's guard.

Mcgee kicks Sasi off and gets to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Timothy Mcgee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Mcgee connects with an inside leg kick.
Mcgee moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Sasi shoots for a takedown but Mcgee saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Timothy Mcgee seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Mcgee tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sasi misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Mcgee counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Sasi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcgee was covering up waiting for the punch and Sasi finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sasi in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Mcgee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sasi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Sasi throws an elbow that misses. Mcgee uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sasi's guard. Nice move by Mcgee!

Mcgee decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Mcgee tries to clinch but Sasi moves out of range.
Sasi takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Mcgee scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Mcgee tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sasi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mcgee somewhat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sasi.

Mcgee changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sasi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sasi wants to get back to his feet but Mcgee drags him back down.
Timothy Mcgee has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mcgee is trying to get an arm triangle but Sasi is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mcgee advances to full mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mcgee lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Mcgee lands with some strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sasi is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Mcgee controlling his opponent.

Mcgee has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Sasi is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Timothy Mcgee!
Timothy Mcgee really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Das Labor logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
