The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Summer Carpenter and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hordeen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Watkins defends it nicely.

and Watkins counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hordeen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hordeen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Watkins swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hordeen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Watkins's waist but Watkins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hordeen off to one side.

Watkins is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hordeen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Watkins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Watkins is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Hordeen rolls with it to try and escape but Watkins cranks on the arm and Hordeen is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
