Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Dos Anjos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Thiago Alvarez was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dos Anjos drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Dos Anjos takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Alvarez tries to clinch but Dos Anjos is having none of it.

Alvarez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dos Anjos pinned against the cage. Dos Anjos gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Dos Anjos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Alvarez tries to clinch there but Dos Anjos circles away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dos Anjos.

Alvarez is fighting off a takedown attempt but Dos Anjos is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Alvarez to the mat. Alvarez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Alvarez is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Dos Anjos rolls with it to try and escape but Alvarez cranks on the arm and Dos Anjos is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
