Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Jose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Caique Mafra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jose comes to the cage accompanied by Um minuto para o fim do mundo/CPM 22. Mafra comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Three Little Birds - Bob Marley kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Paulo Jose has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Jose looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jose throws a head kick that Mafra semi-blocks.
It looks like Caique Mafra has been cut.
Jose tries to close the distance and clinch but Mafra swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mafra keeps the fight on the outside.
Mafra shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jose napping and manages to drive through into side control!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Mafra is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Jose is pushing Mafra's head away, looking to escape. Mafra manages to hold on to the position though.

Jose bucks up and tries to throw Mafra off but instead Mafra has got his back!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mafra has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Jose is in real trouble here. Mafra gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Jose is tapping out! Mafra wins by rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Caique Mafra!
