Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eduardo Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jose Aldo! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aldo has taken the fight to the clinch.
Aldo misses with a knee to the head. Aldo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Aldo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Aldo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Sanchez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanchez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Aldo looking for a sweep. Not yet Aldo, not yet. Sanchez is looking to work some ground and pound but Aldo has wrist control. Aldo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Aldo keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully. Sanchez postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez drops back looking for a leg! Aldo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Aldo manages to kick Sanchez off! Sanchez jumps back into Aldo's guard. Sanchez wants to control from the top but Aldo keeps moving. Sanchez has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Aldo striking off his back but it's not causing Sanchez any problems. Sanchez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Sanchez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Aldo keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully. Sanchez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Eduardo Sanchez wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Sanchez shoots in but Aldo avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sanchez fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Aldo shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Aldo working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Aldo throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Sanchez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sanchez. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Aldo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sanchez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Aldo has managed to get both his arms back between Sanchez's legs - danger averted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Aldo's guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Sanchez wants to control from the top but Aldo keeps moving. Sanchez chips away with some ground and pound. Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but Aldo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sanchez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aldo swivels though and keeps the full guard. Aldo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sanchez is controlling him. That's four minutes gone in the round. Aldo is striking from the bottom but Sanchez uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. Sanchez moves into full mount! Aldo won't be happy about that! Sanchez trying to control but Aldo is having none of it. Aldo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanchez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aldo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Sanchez regains full guard. Nicely done. Sanchez has control of Aldo's left arm, preventing Aldo from doing any damage. Sanchez trying to control the position.
Sanchez pulls Aldo in close to prevent any damage. Aldo is working Sanchez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Aldo stands and throws Sanchez's legs to the side, diving into side control. Sanchez tries to bench press Aldo off him but Aldo keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Sanchez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Aldo slows the pace down. Aldo lands a decent elbow from side control. Aldo trying to control the position but Sanchez is working away. Sanchez sneaks back into half guard. Sanchez looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Sanchez looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanchez is looking for a sweep. Aldo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Aldo winds up and cracks Sanchez with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Sanchez trying to control but Aldo postures up.
Sanchez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Aldo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sanchez has managed to free his arm - good work. Sanchez trying to control from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez works his way to full guard. Good work. Sanchez trying to keep a closed guard but Aldo is proving a slippery customer.
Sanchez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Aldo defends it easily. Sanchez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Aldo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sanchez is proving hard to escape from. Sanchez wants to sweep here but Aldo controlling him for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanchez controls Aldo momentarily but Aldo frees himself. Aldo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Sanchez working for a triangle but Aldo defends it easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sanchez has an active guard here but Aldo has managed to pass into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sanchez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eduardo Sanchez dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Aldo throws an overhand right that lands on Sanchez's shoulder, as Sanchez tries to avoid the shot. Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Aldo sprawls well. Aldo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sanchez gets slowly back to his feet. Eduardo Sanchez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sanchez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Aldo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Sanchez trying to control from half guard but Aldo is working away. That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Aldo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Sanchez not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Aldo keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully. Aldo is looking for a triangle but Sanchez pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanchez wants to control but Aldo is keeping him busy. Sanchez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Sanchez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Aldo sees it coming and defends easily. Aldo is trying to maintain the position but Sanchez is very close to passing his half guard. Sanchez is keen to just control but Aldo is a slippery customer. Aldo wants to improve his position but Sanchez is controlling well.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Aldo can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Sanchez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aldo keeps working.
Eduardo Sanchez has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Sanchez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Aldo darts in and clinches Sanchez up against the cage. Sanchez avoiding damage as Aldo throws knees to the body.
Sanchez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Aldo just stands there and leans against the cage. Aldo pulls Sanchez into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanchez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Aldo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sanchez, into his guard. Sanchez trying to control the position.
Aldo is fighting to break Sanchez's control of his arms but Sanchez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Aldo stopping the sweep attempt from Sanchez. Jose Aldo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Aldo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Sanchez trying to control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Eduardo Sanchez showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sanchez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
