Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Emile Padilla! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marshal D Teach! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! D Teach decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. D Teach is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. D Teach sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Padilla defending well though. D Teach content to control rather than advance. Padilla wants to get back to his feet.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Marshal D Teach hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. D Teach misses with a head kick.
D Teach clinches up with Padilla and pushes him back against the cage. Padilla tries to pull guard but D Teach holds him up against the cage and eventually Padilla drops back down to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Padilla is looking to control D Teach's arms but D Teach gets an underhook and turns him. Now Padilla has his back to the cage. D Teach breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
D Teach shoots in and drives through. Padilla sprawls well. Padilla forces D Teach back against the cage and clinches. Padilla holding his opponent close, against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Padilla prevents a takedown attempt there.
D Teach escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Padilla tries to clinch but D Teach is having none of it. Marshal D Teach seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. D Teach throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Padilla's waist but Padilla gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing D Teach off to one side. Emile Padilla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marshal D Teach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. D Teach throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Padilla's waist but Padilla gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing D Teach off to one side. Nice takedown defense from D Teach. No joy for Padilla on that attempt. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Padilla is defended easily by D Teach. Padilla steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from D Teach. That one must have hurt. D Teach shoots in looking for a takedown. Padilla tries to sprawl out of it but D Teach keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Padilla manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. D Teach with a lazy takedown attempt and Padilla counters by clinching up. D Teach looks winded! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! D Teach manages to break the clinch.
D Teach shoots in looking for a takedown but Padilla manages to keep the fight standing, pushing D Teach's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. No luck with that takedown attempt from Padilla.
That's three minutes gone in the round. D Teach misses with a double jab
and Padilla counters by clinching up. D Teach fails to pull guard.
Both guys are working to get underhooks. Padilla effectively controlling the action here. D Teach looking to slow down the pace here. Padilla pulls D Teach into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Padilla has a closed guard, preventing D Teach from standing up. Padilla keeping moving, preventing D Teach from controlling successfully. Padilla controls D Teach momentarily but D Teach frees himself. D Teach preventing the sweep. Padilla is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and D Teach dives into side control.
Padilla is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Padilla trying his best to control but D Teach has mounted him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marshal D Teach dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
D Teach fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Padilla sprawls well initially but D Teach persists and gets the takedown into half guard. D Teach is keen to just control but Padilla is a slippery customer. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Padilla tries to kick D Teach off but D Teach keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. D Teach moves into full mount! Padilla won't be happy about that! D Teach trying to control but he's not successful this time. D Teach lands a big shot there that rocks Padilla but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
D Teach is standing up, even though he is in mount. D Teach misses with a wild body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Padilla scores with a takedown into D Teach's guard. Padilla stays in close to D Teach's body and controls the position. D Teach working a defensive guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Padilla trying to control the position but instead, D Teach has worked for underhooks and has pushed Padilla into the cage. D Teach ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. D Teach no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Padilla stopping the sweep attempt from D Teach. D Teach looking to control.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. D Teach darts in looking for a takedown but Padilla gets double underhooks and turns D Teach into the cage. D Teach has had enough of the clinch but Padilla keeps him there for the moment. Padilla is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but D Teach is keeping busy. Padilla goes for a takedown in the clinch but D Teach prevents it.

D Teach throwing strikes but missing. D Teach won't allow Padilla to get back to his feet. D Teach slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Padilla is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Padilla looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Marshal D Teach showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Horrible takedown by D Teach or perhaps it was just good defense by Padilla which made him look bad. Padilla fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but D Teach avoids it really well and circles away. D Teach fails with a takedown attempt from distance. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from D Teach. Emile Padilla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marshal D Teach. D Teach takes a shot to the body in his stride.
D Teach takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. D Teach throws a hook to the side of Padilla's head but Padilla sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. D Teach takes the fight into the clinch.

D Teach breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. D Teach dives in and grabs Padilla's left leg, looking for a takedown. Padilla pushes down on D Teach's head and hops out. Padilla darts in looking for a takedown but D Teach gets double underhooks and turns Padilla into the cage. D Teach is trying to stall.

D Teach wants to take the fight to the mat but Padilla manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. D Teach manages to break the clinch.
Padilla misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from D Teach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Padilla shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. D Teach manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Padilla is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. D Teach has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Padilla off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. D Teach has closed the distance and engaged Padilla in a clinch.

Padilla is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. D Teach lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. D Teach decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Padilla, up you get! A lazy left from D Teach finds it's target. Padilla shoots for a double leg takedown but D Teach sprawls well. He's pushed Padilla's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. D Teach misses with the combination.
D Teach goes for a double leg but Padilla avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Padilla continues to drive forward.

Padilla is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. D Teach is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Padilla drops down looking for an ankle pick but D Teach pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Padilla crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from D Teach - the referee stops the clock and Padilla gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says D Teach. Padilla manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Padilla tries to clinch up but D Teach circles away and keeps his distance.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Marshal D Teach. Well D Teach has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
