Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Donald NcDemomnd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, BabyJay Penn!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
NcDemomnd pulls out of a head kick attempt.
NcDemomnd has managed to clinch.
Penn drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Penn is trying to pull guard but NcDemomnd turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Penn's coach down at The Cave Fighting Team was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Penn's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
NcDemomnd can't break the clinch.
Penn jumps into guard, dragging NcDemomnd to the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Penn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. NcDemomnd doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. NcDemomnd manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
NcDemomnd tries to stand but Penn is controlling from the bottom.
Penn is trying to control the position but NcDemomnd postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
NcDemomnd throwing strikes from guard but Penn blocks nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
NcDemomnd trying to control the position from guard on top but Penn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
NcDemomnd drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Penn manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now NcDemomnd has Penn in his guard.
Penn is sitting in close to NcDemomnd's body. NcDemomnd has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Penn is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Penn is tapping! That was a very nice submission by NcDemomnd.
