Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Horacio Carver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Urijah Faber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Horacio Carver has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Horacio Carver seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Horacio Carver! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Urijah Faber! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Faber throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Carver was covering up waiting for the punch and Faber finishes the takedown easily into guard. Faber seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Faber trying to control but Carver is working from the bottom. Faber prevents Carver from getting back to his feet. Faber works a leg free and moves into half guard. Carver controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Carver wants to get back to full guard. Faber is pressing down on Carver's thigh, looking to free his foot. Carver is holding on for now. Carver is concentrating on defense, preventing Faber from advancing position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Faber gets a double leg takedown into Carver's guard. Carver is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Faber must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Faber is looking to work some ground and pound but Carver has wrist control. Carver looking to hit a scissor sweep but Faber is one step ahead there. Carver lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Faber! Carver looking to finish Faber with some ground and pound. This is bad for Faber! Carver putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carver lands a heavy elbow. Faber is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. Faber keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! Faber wants to control but Carver is having none of it. Faber tries to get back to half guard but can't. Carver mounts Faber! Really nice guard pass there! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carver controlling the position easily from mount. Carver breaks from Faber's wrist control and lands an elbow. Carver putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Carver has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Carver with shots to the head and body - Faber looks very uncomfortable down there. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Faber is looking to get to half guard. Faber looks winded! Carver lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Carver lands with some strikes. Carver lands a nice shot to the head. Faber is desperately trying to improve his position but Carver has a good base and remains in mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Horacio Carver dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Carver tries a head kick but it misses.
Carver throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Faber stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Carver gets caught napping as Faber dives in and scores a takedown. Carver manages to retain guard. Faber tries to free his leg and advance position but Carver is retaining full guard. Carver wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Horacio Carver overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Carver looking for a sweep. Not yet Carver, not yet. Carver wants to stand up but Faber is controlling him. Carver pushes Faber off and gets back to his feet.
Faber is breathing heavily. Faber gets a double leg takedown into Carver's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carver is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Faber controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Faber won't allow Carver to sweep him here. Faber is looking to work some ground and pound but Carver has wrist control. Carver pulls Faber in close to his closed guard and prevents Faber from doing any damage or advancing position. Faber tries to free his leg and advance position but Carver is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Faber tries to clinch but Carver is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Faber throws the left hand but Carver avoids the punch easily. Faber closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Carver prevents Faber from moving into mount. Carver is trying to escape and get back to his feet. You can see the frustration on Carver's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Carver manages to work his way to half guard, despite Faber's best efforts. Carver regains full guard. Nicely done. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Carver looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Carver is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Carver is taking a breather. Faber says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Carver is nestled in close to Faber, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Faber has hold of Carver's hands but Carver slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Nice strikes from Carver there. Faber on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Faber keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Carver lands strikes from half guard. Nice strikes from Carver there. Faber wants to control but Carver is keeping busy and won't allow it. Carver lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Carver connects with a nice short shot to Faber's temple. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Faber is looking for a sweep. Carver is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Carver scoring with strikes to the body and head. Carver working over Faber with some ground and pound. Faber looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Carver slips a nice elbow through Faber's hands, connecting with Faber's forehead. Well, if Carver is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Carver drops an elbow to the side of Faber's head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Carver takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Carver is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Carver working over Faber with some ground and pound. Faber looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carver closes the distance and pushes Faber back into the cage. Faber wants the takedown. Carver is fighting it off but Faber persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Carver's guard against the cage. Carver is pulling down on Faber's head to control his posture. Carver tries to land a sweep but no joy. Carver lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Faber! Carver looking to finish Faber with some ground and pound. This is bad for Faber! Carver landing shots from mount. Faber tries to hold on but Carver pushes him away. Carver looking to finish Faber with some ground and pound. This is bad for Faber! Faber takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! That's one minute gone in the round. Carver with a couple of short strikes. Faber really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Carver lands a heavy elbow. Carver landing strikes from the mount and Faber is in trouble! Carver looking to finish Faber with some ground and pound. This is bad for Faber! Carver is landing with some decent strikes but Faber is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. The referee warns Faber that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Faber wants to get back to his feet.
Carver has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Faber's face.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Carver cracks Faber with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Faber from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Carver is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Faber. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. Carver is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Faber can do to turn this around? Carver is looking to finish with some ground and pound! Carver just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Carver punishes Faber with strikes from the back mount. Carver lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Faber is taking damage to the body and head. Carver is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Carver gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Carver gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Carver apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Carver throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Faber's head. Faber decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Carver desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Carver is defending well but Faber drives through and ends up in Carver's guard. Carver lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Faber! And that's the end of the fight! Horacio Carver showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carver, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
