PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between AC Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Vegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vegas has chosen Jack Vegas by MNEMIC as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, AC Hardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Vegas!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vegas shoots for a takedown but Hardy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jack Vegas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A combination from Hardy does no damage.
Hardy takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Vegas fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hardy wants to clinch up but Vegas keeps it at a distance.
Hardy throws a front kick aimed at Vegas's knee but Vegas avoids it well.
Hardy goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Vegas takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Vegas misses with a takedown attempt - Hardy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
AC Hardy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Vegas.

Hardy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Vegas scores with a one two! Hardy had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hardy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hardy holds on and takes a little breather.
Vegas is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hardy had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Vegas is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hardy Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Vegas's back instead.

Vegas looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Hardy's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Vegas wants to escape the position but for the time being he's just trying to control the pace.
Vegas breaks Hardy's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Vegas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hardy can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Vegas controls the pace.
Hardy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Vegas decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Vegas drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Vegas gets to his feet - Hardy follows without any prompting.

Vegas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hardy to the mat! Hardy manages to get full guard.
Vegas is pushing down on Hardy's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hardy is fighting to maintain full guard but Vegas has managed to sneak the leg through.

Vegas slips a nice elbow through Hardy's hands, connecting with Hardy's forehead.
Vegas perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Vegas scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Vegas passes to full mount!
Hardy wants to control but Vegas is having none of it.
Vegas postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hardy looks a forlorn figure.
Hardy is in all sorts of trouble here.

Vegas with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hardy tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Vegas dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Vegas gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Hardy is trying to stall.
Vegas is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hardy gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Hardy turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hardy manages to end up in side control.

Vegas is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hardy's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Vegas pushes Hardy off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hardy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vegas tries to avoid it but Hardy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vegas to the ground. Vegas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
AC Hardy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Vegas shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Vegas looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hardy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Jack Vegas has got the better of the ground game so far.
Vegas wants to pass to mount but Hardy is defending the position.
Hardy has hold of Vegas's hands but Vegas slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Vegas is keen to just control but Hardy is a slippery customer.

Vegas is nestled in close to Hardy, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Vegas is trying to control the action in half guard but Hardy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jack Vegas just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hardy tries to reverse the position but Vegas maintains control.
Hardy wants to control but Vegas is having none of it.
Hardy is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Vegas has taken his back.
Hardy tries to break free.

Hardy is trying to defend against the choke here but Vegas has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Vegas Tightens the hold and Hardy taps out furiously! Vegas displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jack Vegas!
