Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Manny Campbell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Hughes! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes ducks under a wild hook from Campbell. Campbell listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Campbell throws a right hand that Hughes ducks under and follows up with a left that Hughes also avoids with ease. Hughes takes a shot right to the bread basket. Hughes gets a takedown into half guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Hughes is working for a submission of some sort.

That's one minute gone in the round. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hughes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Campbell does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Hughes sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Campbell defending well though. Hughes is taking a breather. Campbell says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Campbell blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hughes. Campbell on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Campbell tries to get out of the position. Hughes throwing shots but Campbell is blocking nicely. Hughes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Well, if Hughes is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hughes throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Campbell avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hughes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Campbell blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hughes. Hughes has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Hughes breaks from Campbell's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Campbell is bucking up trying to escape but Hughes cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Hughes controlling the pace for now. Hughes is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Campbell is forced to tap! Great finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mark Hughes! A relieved looking Mark Hughes thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
