PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nemo Nautilus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Milner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nemo Nautilus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Luke Milner! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Milner closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Milner pushes Nautilus back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Nautilus doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Milner scores a nice knee to the body.
Milner is pushing Nautilus up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Milner jumps guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Milner managing to control the position. Nautilus wants to pass the guard but Milner is keeping the position. Nautilus postures up.
Nautilus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Milner on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nautilus missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Milner has his hands on Nautilus's head, controlling the position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nautilus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Nautilus is looking to stand up but Milner won't let him. Milner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Milner not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Milner throwing shots but Nautilus is blocking nicely. Milner is looking to take a break and control but Nautilus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Milner drops an elbow to the side of Nautilus's head. Nautilus is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Ultimate MMA Training Center - Evil Evolution, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Milner not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Milner controlling the action here. Milner thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nautilus's head. Nautilus is in trouble now - Milner has advanced to mount! Milner tries to control but Nautilus wriggling away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Milner throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Nautilus is breathing heavily. Milner controlling the position easily from mount. Milner misses with a head shot. Milner trying to control but Nautilus is having none of it. Milner looking to ground and pound but Nautilus is blocking nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Milner lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Milner in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Milner lands a nice shot to the head. Milner looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Milner swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Nautilus is now in Milner's guard. A big mistake from Milner there, giving up the dominant position! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Luke Milner dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Milner scores with a kick to the midsection. Milner scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. A lull in the action here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Milner tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Milner has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Milner in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Milner wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Nautilus, who protects the arm well. Milner looks up at the clock and then as Nautilus takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Milner smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Nautilus takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Milner goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Nautilus has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Milner but great work by Nautilus. Milner is trying to control Nautilus's posture but Nautilus avoids it. Milner gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Milner kicks Nautilus off and gets back to his feet. Milner looking to score a takedown here. Nautilus is defending well but Milner drives through and ends up in Nautilus's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Milner pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nautilus is keeping the position for now. Milner throws a big elbow that misses. Milner trying to control but Nautilus is working from the bottom. Milner working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Milner controls from within his opponent's guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Luke Milner has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Excellent takedown into side control there by Milner. Milner in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Milner misses with the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here. Milner misses with the ground and pound. Nautilus is not content to let Milner control the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nautilus is being controlled here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Luke Milner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Milner throws a nice looking combination but Nautilus bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Milner drives through and clinches with Nautilus against the cage.
Milner is trying to pull guard but Nautilus turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Milner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nautilus tries to keep at a distance but Milner has taken the fight into the clinch. Nautilus manages to break the clinch.
Milner throws a right and a left that both miss. Milner has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Nautilus misses with a two punch combination.
Milner gets a takedown into half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Milner is trying to control. Nautilus wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Milner stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Milner scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Nautilus managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Milner.
Luke Milner has got the better of the ground game so far. Milner in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Milner throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Milner is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Nautilus is trying to escape and Milner transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Nautilus is forced to tap! Nice work there by Milner! Very nice indeed!
