Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Keijo Kanki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nisse Torsk! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kanki clinches up with Torsk and pushes him back against the cage. Torsk looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Kanki lands with a short head shot on the inside. Torsk has had enough of the clinch but Kanki keeps him there for the moment. Kanki can't get the takedown.
Kanki drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Torsk gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Keijo Kanki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kanki fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Torsk. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Kanki tries to bum rush Torsk with a series of wild strikes but Torsk uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Horrible takedown by Kanki or perhaps it was just good defense by Torsk which made him look bad. Torsk keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Torsk checks a leg kick.

Kanki drops down looking for an ankle pick but Torsk pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kanki shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Torsk pinned against the cage. Torsk gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Torsk avoids the head kick by Kanki.
Kanki misses with an uppercut. Torsk saw that one coming. Torsk has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Kanki. Nice defenses there by Kanki. Kanki tries to close the distance and clinch up but Torsk swats him away and circles back towards the center. Torsk tries to clinch up. Kanki throws a sloppy head kick and Torsk moves out of range easily. Torsk uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kanki. Torsk rushes Kanki and presses him up against the cage. Kanki is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Torsk gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Torsk breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Kanki shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kanki showed some decent athleticism there. Kanki is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Kanki is looking to take a break and control but Torsk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kanki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kanki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kanki has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Torsk is proving hard to escape from. Kanki postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kanki drops back looking for a leg! Torsk is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Torsk manages to kick Kanki off! Kanki jumps back into Torsk's guard. Kanki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kanki with a flurry of punches that miss. Kanki is working Torsk over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Torsk can do anything to dispel that myth. Kanki thows a big elbow that misses.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kanki doesn't manage to clinch there - Torsk circles away.

Torsk escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kanki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Torsk's waist but Torsk gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kanki off to one side. Torsk just misses with a punch to the body.

Kanki shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Torsk as he jumps to the side. Kanki shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kanki was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Kanki punching from mount but Torsk doing a good job of avoiding damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kanki throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Kanki looking to ground and pound but Torsk is blocking nicely. Kanki sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Kanki has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Torsk's face.
Kanki throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Torsk because Kanki loaded up on that one. Kanki landing strikes, looking to finish! Torsk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kanki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Torsk is trying to stand up. Keijo Kanki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Torsk holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Kanki tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Kanki thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Torsk wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Kanki.
Poor strikes thrown by Kanki there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Kanki misses with a head shot. Nisse Torsk has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. BOOM! Kanki connects with a massive shot to the dome!

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Keijo Kanki. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kanki, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
