Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Isreal Santana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Crash Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Santana throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nelson was covering up waiting for the punch and Santana finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Santana missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Nelson trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Nelson wants to sweep here but Santana controlling him for the moment.

Santana closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Nelson's guard.

Santana wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving.
Nelson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Nelson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Santana takes the fight into the clinch.
Nelson lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Santana gets a trip takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

We've been informed that Nelson has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Nelson attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nelson is defended easily by Santana.

Santana has hold of one of Nelson's legs. Nelson is fighting the takedown attempt but Santana gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Nelson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Santana is working away from the top position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Crash Nelson was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Santana postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santana trying to control the position from guard on top but Nelson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Nelson wants to get back to his feet but Santana is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nelson looks to land a left hand but Santana moved out of range nicely.
Nelson shoots in looking for a takedown. Santana tries to sprawl out of it but Nelson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Santana manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Santana misses with a knee to the head.
Santana tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Santana pulls guard successfully.

Isreal Santana overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Santana throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Santana is looking to stand up but Nelson isn't so interested in that idea.
Nelson wants to control from the top but Santana keeps moving.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Crash Nelson wasn't active enough on the ground.
Nelson wants to clinch up but Santana keeps it at a distance.
Nelson misses with a body kick.
Nelson throws a wild body kick that Santana sees coming a mile off.

Santana feints and as Nelson raises his hands in defense, Santana changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Santana drops back looking for a leg! Nelson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nelson manages to kick Santana off! Santana jumps back into Nelson's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Santana has taken the fight to the clinch.
Nelson fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Nelson tries to land knees in the clinch but Santana avoids the damage to the body.
Santana tries to break free but Nelson pushes him back against the cage.
Nelson comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Nelson tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Santana pulls guard successfully.
Nelson won't allow Santana to get back to his feet.

Santana is looking for a triangle but Nelson pushes his legs off easily.
Nelson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Santana wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Nelson manages to pass to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Santana flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Nelson wants to control but Santana is keeping him busy.
Nelson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Santana is pressing down on Nelson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Santana is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Santana could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Crash Nelson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Nelson pulls Santana in close to his closed guard and prevents Santana from doing any damage or advancing position.

Nelson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Crash Nelson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Santana is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Nelson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

And that's the end of the fight!
Isreal Santana showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Santana, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
