PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cedric Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Heins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heins has chosen Eye of the Tiger as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cedric Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Henry Heins!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Heins clinches with his opponent.

Heins has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Miller regains guard immediately.
Miller throws a nice elbow from the bottom.

Miller kicks Heins off and gets to his feet.

Miller rushes Heins and presses him up against the cage.
Miller working hard to break the clinch.
Heins has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Heins jumps guard and drags Miller to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Heins is working an open guard so Miller takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Miller gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Heins to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Heins must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Miller manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Heins manages to get himself to full guard.
Miller seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Miller is looking to work some ground and pound but Heins has wrist control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Miller stands up over Heins, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Miller really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Miller winds up and cracks Heins with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Heins has hold of Miller's hands but Miller slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Heins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Miller has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Miller takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Miller lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Miller connects with a nice short shot to Heins's temple.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Miller lands a nice short elbow.
Miller is keen to just control but Heins is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cedric Miller dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Heins gets a double leg takedown into Miller's guard.
Miller is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Miller has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Heins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Miller manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Heins is looking to control Miller's arms but Miller gets an underhook and turns him. Now Heins has his back to the cage.
Heins is pressed up against the cage. Miller has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Heins down to the mat. Heins avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Miller has closed the distance and engaged Heins in a clinch.
Heins can't break the clinch.

Miller breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Miller uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Heins.
Miller moves in looking to clinch but Heins pushes him off.

Heins closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Heins lands in his opponent's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Miller is on top in guard.
Miller is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Miller is nestled in close to Heins, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Miller is looking to take a break and control but Heins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Miller thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Heins's head.

Miller lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cedric Miller dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Heins shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Heins was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Miller is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Heins has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Miller wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Miller wants to control but Heins postures up.
Miller sneaks back into half guard.
Miller is holding on to half guard well.

Miller has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Heins is working away from the top position though.

Heins tries to pass the half guard into mount. Miller knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Miller gets back to full guard.
Heins postures up.
Miller seems keen to control Heins's posture.
Miller throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Miller has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Heins off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Miller will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Heins has momentary wrist control but Miller slips an elbow through the middle.

Heins is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Miller scores with a couple of nice shots.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cedric Miller showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Miller, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
