PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yoshiro Moto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaija Koo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koo has chosen Kaija Koo - Kuka keksi rakkauden? as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Yoshiro Moto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshiro Moto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kaija Koo!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koo misses with a double jab.
Koo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kaija Koo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Moto tries to clinch but Koo moves out of range.

Koo tries to keep at a distance but Moto has taken the fight into the clinch.

Koo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Moto tries to clinch up but Koo circles away and keeps his distance.
Koo fails to land with a series of punches.

Moto closes the distance and clinches.

Moto manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Koo trying to control but Moto is working from the bottom.

Moto has his foot on Koo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Koo works his way back into a safe position though.
Koo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moto swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Moto wants to sweep but no luck.
Koo wants to pass the guard but Moto is keeping the position.
Koo postures up and lands a big shot to Moto's brow.
Koo with a nice head shot there.

Moto looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Koo trying to control the position from guard on top but Moto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Koo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Moto's guard.
Koo scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Koo is tying to control. Moto wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Moto is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Koo slips a nice elbow through Moto's hands, connecting with Moto's forehead.
Koo working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Koo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Koo throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Moto is not content to let Koo control the position.
Koo scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Koo is trying to control the action in half guard but Moto is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Moto tries to roll over but Koo keeps him under control.

Koo seems to be working for a kimura but Moto defends the submission attempt.
Koo seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Koo lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Koo lands a nice short elbow.
Koo slips a nice elbow through Moto's hands, connecting with Moto's forehead.

Koo decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Moto changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Koo tries to avoid it but Moto manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Koo to the ground. Koo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Koo lands a jab to Moto's midsection.
Moto checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Koo throws a right hand that Moto ducks under and follows up with a left that Moto also avoids with ease.
Koo lands a nice hook to Moto's body. Moto takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Koo misses with the combination.
Koo smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Moto takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Koo scores with a nice head shot.


Moto is rocked!
Koo fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Moto square on the jaw! Damn, Moto is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kaija Koo!
