The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

silva scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

silva wants to work for an arm triangle but Sayce is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sayce wants to control but silva is keeping busy.

silva is working for a submission of some sort.

silva has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Sayce clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

I really don't envy Sayce right now.

silva looking to break Sayce's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Sayce remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise silva will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

silva is persistently looking for the submission but Sayce is defending it well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
silva tries to get the hooks in deep but Sayce pushed the leg off.
silva somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

silva with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
silva pushes down on Sayce's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Sayce is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
silva manages to capitalize on a mistake by Sayce to take his back!
silva has the hooks in. Sayce is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Sayce knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for silva on the ground.
silva lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Sayce is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if silva gets his way!

and silva counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sayce's guard now.

Sayce has left one of his arms exposed and silva doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Sayce screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
