The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Assoumi darts in looking for a takedown but Solomon gets double underhooks and turns Assoumi into the cage.

Solomon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Solomon shoots in but Assoumi avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Assoumi shoots for a double leg takedown but Solomon sprawls well. He's pushed Assoumi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Solomon shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Assoumi as he jumps to the side.
Assoumi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Solomon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Assoumi defends well and Solomon ends up having to push Assoumi into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Assoumi has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Solomon uses from the top position.
Solomon is fighting to break Assoumi's control of his arms but Assoumi is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Solomon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Assoumi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Solomon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

and Assoumi holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Solomon wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Assoumi has him pressed against the cage.
Assoumi is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Solomon fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Solomon jumps guard but Assoumi stands there with Solomon around his waist. Solomon gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Assoumi has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Solomon regains guard immediately.

Solomon jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Assoumi walks away with a smile on his face. Solomon gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

I was talking to Assoumi's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Solomon goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Assoumi shoots in and bounces Solomon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Assoumi is working for a rear naked choke. Solomon is not defending it well and Assoumi has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Solomon refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Solomon's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
