PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stewart Bradford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Call Me (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stewart Bradford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Call Me!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Russell Pearce and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bradford tries to sprawl but Me drives through with a takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Me is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Bradford keeping control of the position.
Bradford is looking to improve his position.
Me wants to get back to his feet.
Bradford is pressing down on Me's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Bradford is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Me wanted to stand there but Bradford had control of the position.
Me preventing the sweep.
Me wants to stand but Bradford is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Bradford slips under a jab from Me.

Bradford gets caught napping as Me dives in and scores a takedown. Bradford manages to retain guard.
Bradford manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Me manages to get himself to full guard.
Bradford throwing strikes but missing.
Bradford works over Me with some ground and pound from guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bradford's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Bradford gets to his feet - Me follows without any prompting.
Bradford misses with a few strikes there.
Me walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bradford checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Me lands a lovely overhand right.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Me throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Me bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Bradford's head backwards.
Me darts in trying to clinch

so Bradford counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bradford is standing up over Me. Me looks to escape but Bradford dives into side control.
Me looks winded!
The strikes coming from Bradford are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Me pushes Bradford away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bradford gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Bradford stands up and beckons Me to his feet.
Call Me seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Me cracks Bradford with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Bradford tries to score a power double leg takedown but Me sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bradford somewhat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bradford slips under a jab.
Bradford avoids a punch combination nicely.
Me doesn't manage to clinch there - Bradford circles away.
Me slaps away a takedown attempt from Bradford, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Me gets a takedown into half guard.
Me tries to stand but can't do so whilst Bradford controls his leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bradford wants to control but Me is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Bradford works his way to full guard. Good work.
Me tries to stand but Bradford is controlling from the bottom.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Bradford manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Bradford taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Bradford's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Me fails to land with a series of punches.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Me tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Bradford counters with a shoot takedown. Me fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Me wants to get back to his feet but Bradford passes into half guard.
Bradford prevents Me from standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Stewart Bradford will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A left and a right from Me both land. Nice combination.
Me pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Me throws a leg kick but Bradford moved away.
A head kick misses from Me.

Me is breathing heavily.

Me is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bradford is controlling him.

Bradford gets to his feet - Me follows without any prompting.
Bradford fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nice shot lands for Me.
Me throws a series of punches but Bradford avoids them all with ease.
Me stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stewart Bradford. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bradford shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Me napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Bradford tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bradford has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bradford stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Me cracks Bradford with a right hand to the side of the head.

Me drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Bradford has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Me is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Bradford breaks the clinch.
Me misses with a double jab
and Bradford counters with a slapping leg kick.
Bradford avoids the body shot from Me.

Me closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Bradford's guard.
Stewart Bradford overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bradford has his hands on Me's head, controlling the position.

Me wanted to stand there but Bradford had control of the position.
Bradford bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Me's guard.

Bradford gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Me misses with a body kick.
Me thows a body shot but no joy.
Me wants to clinch

and Bradford counters with a nice double leg into side control. Me won't be happy with that.
Me on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Me is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bradford decides to stand up, so the ref orders Me to his feet.
Bradford keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A low kick from Me is predictable there
and Bradford counters with a head kick.
Me scores with a three punch combo!
Me just misses with a punch to the body.
Bradford avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bradford gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stewart Bradford dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Me falls off balance throwing a combination

and Bradford counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Me breaks the clinch.
Me misses with a jab, cross combination.
Me thows a body shot but no joy.
Me throws a right and a left that Bradford avoids nicely.
Jab, jab by Me - just one landing.

Me closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Me really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bradford. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bradford moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Bradford controlling Me's posture.
Me tries to stand but Bradford is controlling from the bottom.
Me takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bradford is pulling down on Me's head to control his posture.
Bradford is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bradford decides to return to a standing position.
Me lands a right hook to the body.
Bradford fails with a takedown attempt.

Me tries to sprawl but Bradford drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Bradford working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Me fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bradford to the ground. Me is now in Bradford's guard.
Me tries to stand but Bradford is controlling from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bradford is on top in guard.
Bradford stops Me from standing up.
Bradford working some strikes from top position.
Me wants to stand but Bradford is controlling the position.

Bradford decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Me, up you get!
Me throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fight stays on the outside here - Me looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bradford scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Me tries to close the distance and clinch but Bradford swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A nice combination there by Me.
Me finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Me looks to score with a jab to the body but Bradford is just out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Me gets caught flat footed, as Bradford shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Call Me has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Stewart Bradford is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Bradford drops back looking for a leg! Me is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Me manages to kick Bradford off! Bradford jumps back into Me's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stewart Bradford.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bradford, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
