Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Erin Padilla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Wayne!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Russell Pearce and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wayne fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Padilla manages to avoid it.
Wayne looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Wayne closes the distance and clinches.
Padilla misses with a knee strike.
Padilla scores with a shot to the side of Wayne's head.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Padilla is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Wayne to keep the fight standing.

Padilla manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Wayne trying to control but Padilla is working from the bottom.
Padilla could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Wayne throws a big right hand that misses.
Wayne stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Padilla swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wayne wants to control from the top but Padilla keeps moving.

Wayne looking to sit in guard and control but Padilla gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Wayne wants to control but Padilla is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Wayne regains full guard. Nicely done.
Wayne is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Padilla is trying to maintain the position but Wayne is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Padilla jumps guard but Wayne stands there with Padilla around his waist. Padilla gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Wayne utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Wayne manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Padilla manages to get himself to full guard.
Wayne controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Wayne pushes down on Padilla's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Wayne lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Padilla misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Wayne tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Wayne dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Padilla tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Wayne has clasped his hands together around Padilla's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Padilla is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

Padilla wants to control but Wayne postures up.

Padilla is looking to reverse the position.

Wayne goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Padilla has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Wayne but great work by Padilla.
John Wayne has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wayne tries to bench press Padilla off him but Padilla keeps the position.
Padilla postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Wayne has one of Padilla's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Padilla misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Padilla will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Padilla is staying tight to Wayne's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Padilla tries to get to his feet but Wayne is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Padilla in his guard.

Padilla has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wayne is proving hard to escape from.

Wayne seems keen to control Padilla's posture.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wayne can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Wayne closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Padilla to the mat! Padilla manages to get full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Wayne pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Padilla is keeping the position for now.
Padilla seems keen to control Wayne's posture.
Padilla's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Wayne tries to stand but Padilla is controlling from the bottom.
Wayne stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Padilla swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wayne wants to stand and escape but instead Padilla has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Padilla accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Padilla prevents Wayne from getting back to his feet.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Wayne. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Wayne is breathing heavily.

Wayne had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Padilla defends it easily.
Padilla wants to control from the top but Wayne keeps moving.

John Wayne showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Padilla's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Wayne decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

John Wayne is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. John Wayne hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Wayne swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

John Wayne comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Wayne has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
