Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mario Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Mars (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mars has chosen Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood as his entrance music. Mario Banks has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mario Banks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Mars! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mars looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Banks! We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Banks throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. Banks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Banks struggling a bit here. Mars fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Banks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Mars is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Banks's shoulder. That is not cool. Mars trying to control the position but Banks is working away. Mars in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Let's hope that Mars has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Mars tries to stand but Banks is controlling his head. Mars swings around for an armbar but Banks sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Mars's guard. Mars is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Paul Mars. Banks tries to clinch up and Mars counters with a straight right hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mars gets a takedown into half guard. Mars is keen to just control but Banks is a slippery customer. Mars wants to pass the guard but Banks is defending well. Mars looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Paul Mars. Banks moves into the clinch. Mars tightens his grip and picks Banks up, before dumping him to the ground. Banks manages to land in guard. Banks not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mars tries to free his leg and advance position but Banks is retaining full guard. Banks managing to control the position. Mars trying to control the position from guard on top but Banks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
We're going to have a standup here because Mario Banks wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Banks tries to clinch there but Mars circles away.
Banks tries to clinch up and Mars counters into the clinch. Nicely done. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mars tightens his grip and picks Banks up, before dumping him to the ground. Banks manages to land in guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mars wants to control from the top but Banks keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mars misses with a lunging right hand
and Banks counters with a body kick. Banks tries to clinch there but Mars circles away.
Mars shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Banks is trying to defend but Mars finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Mars seems to be working for a kimura but Banks defends the submission attempt. Banks holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Mars is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Banks reverses the position - he's now on top in Mars's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Banks is working Mars over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Banks stands up and waves to Mars to follow him. Mars feints and as Banks raises his hands in defense, Mars changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Banks looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mars throws a big elbow that misses. Mars stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Banks swivels though and keeps the full guard. Banks will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Banks being controlled here, momentarily. Banks keeping moving, preventing Mars from controlling successfully. Mars postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Banks is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mars, into his guard. Banks working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mars wants to sweep but no luck. Banks throwing strikes but missing. Mars is controlling Banks's posture. Banks postures up and lands a big shot to Mars's brow. Banks is looking to stand up but Mars won't let him. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mars can do anything to dispel that myth. Mars has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Mars is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Banks is staying active underneath Mars, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Banks is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mars pulls his head out easily. Mars is taking a breather. Banks says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Paul Mars hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Mars looking for a takedown here - he's got it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paul Mars showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Mars closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Banks is looking for a sweep. Banks is not content to let Mars control the position. Mars moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Mars wants to lay and pray for a moment but Banks keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Banks is trying to control Mars's posture but Mars avoids it.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Banks closes the distance looking to clinch and Mars counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Mars is controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mars seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Banks does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Mars is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Banks manages to get to full guard. Mars drops back, looking for a kneebar! Banks looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Banks looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Banks! Banks landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Banks sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Mars is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Mars is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Mars is trying to control Banks's posture but Banks avoids it. Mars is looking for a sweep. Banks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mars, who protects the arm well. Mars is trying to control Banks's posture but Banks avoids it. Mars takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Banks landing a few strikes. Banks tries to stand but Mars is controlling his head.

Banks looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Mars tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Banks wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Mario Banks has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Paul Mars is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Banks swings around for an armbar but Mars sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Banks's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Paul Mars comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Mars has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Paul Mars! A relieved looking Paul Mars thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
