Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Evan Spence! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, God Nope! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nope digs a good body shot into Spence's ribs. Nope fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Spence sprawls well initially but Nope persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Spence manages to get to full guard.
Spence manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nope manages to get himself to full guard.
Spence landing some decent shots from guard. Spence lands a couple of decent looking shots. Spence is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Nope is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Spence keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Nope's head. Spence chips away with some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spence works over Nope with some ground and pound from guard. Nope looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Spence passes into side control.
Spence working the head with strikes. Spence working the body and head with strikes. Spence will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Spence working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Check out the look on Spence's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
This has been an exciting period of action! Nope wants to control but Spence postures up. Spence in side control lands a decent elbow. Spence connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Nope some visible discomfort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spence stands up. Nope swings widly with a right hand
and Spence counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nope shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nope showed some decent athleticism there. Nope really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spence. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Spence looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Spence gets back to full guard.
Nope throwing strikes but missing. Spence has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Nope should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Spence has tightened it up now! Nope should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
