Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hassan Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Shooter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hassan Mason has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hassan Mason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Shooter! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mason throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shooter's waist but Shooter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mason off to one side. Shooter darts in and clinches Mason up against the cage. Shooter is working for takedown but Mason is calmly controlling the position for now. Shooter has hold of one of Mason's legs. Mason is fighting the takedown attempt but Shooter gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Shooter stops Mason from standing up. Shooter tries to free his leg and advance position but Mason is retaining full guard. Mason kicks Shooter off and gets to his feet. Mason shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Shooter counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mason's guard now. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shooter wants to control from the top but Mason keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mason looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Mason wants to stand up but Shooter is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason keeping moving, preventing Shooter from controlling successfully.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jake Shooter wasn't active enough on the ground. Shooter rushes Mason and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Shooter is working for takedown but Mason is calmly controlling the position for now. Mason managing to block the knees to the body from Shooter.
Mason is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Shooter breaks the clinch.
Shooter tries for a takedown but Mason sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Hassan Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Shooter. Mason dives in and grabs Shooter's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shooter pushes down on Mason's head and hops out. Shooter shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Shooter looks winded!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shooter prevents Mason from standing back up.
Mason is refusing to be controlled, as Shooter sits in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shooter keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Mason tries to kick Shooter off but Shooter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Mason makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mason. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mason pulls Shooter in close to prevent any damage. Shooter wants to control from the top but Mason keeps moving.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Jake Shooter hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Shooter pushes Mason up against the cage in a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shooter changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mason fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mason shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Mason slips under a jab from Shooter. Mason will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nice takedown defense from Mason. No joy for Shooter on that attempt. Shooter scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mason wants to get back to his feet but Shooter drags him back down. Mason is trying to get back to half guard. Mason is working hard here to advance position. Shooter controls the position. Mason is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Mason is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shooter is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Mason's shoulder. That is not cool. Mason tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Shooter presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Shooter dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Mason shoots in looking for a takedown but Shooter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mason's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Mason fails with the takedown and Shooter counters with a nice double leg into guard. Shooter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Mason keeping full guard, as Shooter tries to pass. Mason is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shooter is controlling him. Mason will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Mason keeping moving, preventing Shooter from controlling successfully. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Shooter stopping the sweep attempt from Mason.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shooter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jake Shooter wasn't active enough on the ground. No luck for Shooter with that takedown attempt. Shooter shoots in but no luck this time. Shooter is breathing heavily. Shooter fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mason to the ground. Shooter is now in Mason's guard. Shooter won't allow Mason to get back to his feet. Mason has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Shooter is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mason trying to stall but Shooter improves his position.
Shooter drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mason pulls his leg out and moves away.
Hassan Mason has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Shooter. Shooter lands a really nice looking cross but Mason seems unphased.
Mason doesn't succeed with the takedown and Shooter counters by moving into the clinch. Shooter has Mason pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Shooter pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mason tumbling to the mat - Shooter dives into Mason's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Shooter engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mason wants to get back to his feet but Shooter is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Mason throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Shooter stops Mason from standing up. Shooter is pushing down on Mason's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mason is fighting to maintain full guard but Shooter has managed to sneak the leg through. Shooter trying to control the pace. Mason won't allow Shooter to pass to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mason is staying active underneath Shooter, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Shooter working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Mason's thigh. Mason counters though and makes it back to full guard. Mason wants to stand up but Shooter is controlling him. Mason controls Shooter momentarily but Shooter frees himself. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shooter trying to control but Mason is working from the bottom. Mason is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shooter is controlling him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Shooter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Shooter closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Shooter lands in his opponent's guard. Mason trying to keep a closed guard but Shooter is proving a slippery customer.
Mason wants to get back to his feet but Shooter is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Mason is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Shooter tries to roll over but Mason keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shooter keeps trying to improve his position. Shooter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Mason seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Mason is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Shooter desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Shooter fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mason gets caught napping as Shooter dives in and scores a takedown. Mason manages to retain guard. Shooter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mason is keeping the position for now. Mason is controlling Shooter's posture. Shooter prevents Mason from getting back to his feet. Mason trying to strike off his back.
Mason wants to stand and escape but Shooter is having none of it. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Shooter trying to control but Mason is working from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Mason closes the distance and clinches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shooter is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Mason jumps guard and drags Shooter to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Shooter trying to control but Mason is working from the bottom. Mason is adopting a defensive guard. Mason is looking to stand up but Shooter isn't so interested in that idea. Mason trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Shooter trying to control the position from guard on top but Mason is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jake Shooter was stalling too much, according to the referee. Mason looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Shooter shoots in and gets a takedown into Mason's guard. Mason had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shooter defends it easily. Mason looking to control.
Jake Shooter is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Shooter pushing down on Mason's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Hassan Mason has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Shooter tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mason knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jake Shooter. Well Shooter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
