Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Al Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marquis Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Al Drake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marquis Ray!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ray changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Drake tries to avoid it but Ray manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Drake to the ground. Drake escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ray misses with a takedown attempt - Drake sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Drake punishes Ray's body with a nice straight punch.
Ray avoids the head kick by Drake.

Ray gets caught napping as Drake dives in and scores a takedown. Ray manages to retain guard.

Ray looking for a guillotine here but Drake defends easily.
Ray utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Drake wants to control from the top but Ray keeps moving.
Ray throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Drake drops back looking for a leg! Ray is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ray manages to kick Drake off! Drake jumps back into Ray's guard.

Ray has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Drake is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ray.
Ray is looking to regain half guard here but Drake keeps moving and retains side control.
Drake working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Ray manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Ray has eaten all the pies!

Drake looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Ray decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Drake looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Ray looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

It looks like Al Drake has been cut.
Drake fails to land the takedown.
Ray shoots for a double leg takedown but Drake sprawls well. He's pushed Ray's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Al Drake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marquis Ray.
Ray takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ray takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Ray gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ray is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Drake distracts Ray with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Drake has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Ray is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ray is trying to keep Drake in close.
Drake will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

It looks like Marquis Ray has been cut.
The fight stays on the outside here - Drake looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Drake feints a jab promting Ray to slip. Drake then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Ray slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Drake shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Drake controlling the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Al Drake dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ray blocks a head kick by Drake.
Ray will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Drake is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ray's half guard.
Drake seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ray does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Drake is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Drake works his foot free and advances to mount.

Drake postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ray looks a forlorn figure.
Drake avoids the attempt from Ray to control.

Ray is bucking up trying to escape but Drake cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Ray tries to buck Drake off but he can't manage it.
Ray is breathing heavily.
Drake with the ground and pound from mount.
Ray manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Drake winds up and cracks Ray with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Drake perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Drake wants to control but Ray is keeping him busy.

Drake looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Ray tries to get to full guard but Drake has control of the leg.
Drake sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Al Drake wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Drake swats away the attempt to clinch by Ray.
Drake tests Ray's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Drake looks to land a body kick but Ray moved away.
Al Drake is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Drake scores with a jab. Ray acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Drake moves into range and clinches up with Ray.
Ray scores with a knee to the head.
Ray working aggressively here.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Drake as Ray tries to tie him up.
Drake is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ray is defending well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ray has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Drake avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Al Drake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marquis Ray.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Drake paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Ray gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Drake counters with a crisp one two that drops Ray! Drake thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Ray to his feet! Ray is in big trouble!


Ray is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Drake fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Ray square on the jaw! Damn, Ray is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Al Drake!
A very excited looking Al Drake made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
