Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pete Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shin Jie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pete Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shin Jie!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams avoids a kick to the body.
Williams shoots in but Jie avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jie tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Williams paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jie shoots in but Williams avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Williams throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jie misses with a double jab.
Jie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Williams could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Jie has closed the distance and engaged Williams in a clinch.
Williams has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Jie is trying to drag Williams to the mat but Williams just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Williams is trying to pull guard but Jie has him pressed against the cage.

Williams fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jie avoids it really well and circles away.
Jie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Williams is fending him off so far but Jie persists. Nope, Williams circles away and we're back to standing.

Williams changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jie tries to avoid it but Williams manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jie to the ground. Jie escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Williams uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jie.

Jie shoots in and drives through. Williams sprawls well.
Williams throws a sloppy head kick and Jie moves out of range easily.

Jie looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Jie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Williams tries to avoid it but Jie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Williams to the ground. Williams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Jie stuffs the takedown attempt from Williams. Williams gets slowly back to his feet.
Williams throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Jie counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Williams tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jie tries to pull guard but Williams holds him up against the cage and eventually Jie drops back down to his feet.

A frustrated look appears on Williams's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Jie is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Williams to keep the fight standing.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Jie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Shin Jie has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Jie shoots in for a takedown but Williams shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Williams shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jie as he jumps to the side.
Jie throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Jie closes the distance and clinches.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jie tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Williams just stands there and leans against the cage.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Williams is defended easily by Jie.

Jie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Williams will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Williams will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Shin Jie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Williams is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight!
Shin Jie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jie has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
