PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Vyacheslav Fedotov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malcolm Master (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Master's choice of entrance music: Master of Puppets. Malcolm Master is staring across the ring at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vyacheslav Fedotov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Malcolm Master!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fedotov wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Fedotov scores with a jab. Master acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Master uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fedotov.
Fedotov dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Master. That did some damage!
Master has a takedown stuffed.
Fedotov misses the shot to the body.
Fedotov throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Fedotov throws a series of punches but Master moves out of range.
Fedotov throws a lazy uppercut
and Master counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Master's coach down at The Cave Fighting Team was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Master's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Fedotov misses with a lunging right hand

and Master moves into the clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for Fedotov.
Master is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Fedotov gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Fedotov lands a nice elbow.
Master tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Fedotov just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Vyacheslav Fedotov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Malcolm Master.
With the two fighters working up against the ropes, Fedotov just misses with a elbow thrown towards Master's brow.
Fedotov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Master tries to score a body lock takedown but Fedotov shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Master decides to pull guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Master working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Fedotov.

Fedotov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Master swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fedotov won't allow Master to sweep him here.
Master striking off his back but it's not causing Fedotov any problems.

Master throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Fedotov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Fedotov is working hard here to advance position.
Fedotov is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Master keeping moving, preventing Fedotov from controlling successfully.
Master wants to sweep here but Fedotov controlling him for the moment.
Fedotov slips nicely into half guard.
Fedotov wants to free his trapped foot but Master is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Master moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Master looking for a sweep. Not yet Master, not yet.
Fedotov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Fedotov tries to free his leg and advance position but Master is retaining full guard.
Fedotov passes Master's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Fedotov looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fedotov is looking to take a break and control but Master is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Master is trying to control but can't.
Master blocking the ground and pound attempt from Fedotov.
Master has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fedotov is working away from the top position though.
Fedotov tries to pass the half guard into mount. Master knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Master tries to get to full guard but Fedotov has control of the leg.
Fedotov not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Fedotov wants to control but Master is keeping him busy.
Fedotov is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Master is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Fedotov throws a hook but Master avoids it easily.
Fedotov misses with an uppercut. Master saw that one coming.
Fedotov lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Master has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Fedotov.
A big right from Fedotov misses.
Master shoots in for a double leg but Fedotov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
The fighters circling - Fedotov throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Fedotov lands with a thumping leg kick.
Fedotov shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fedotov misses the shot to the body.
Master keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fedotov tries to bum rush Master with a series of wild strikes but Master uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Master counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Master.
Fedotov gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Master.
Master is trying to drag Fedotov to the mat but Fedotov just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vyacheslav Fedotov dominated that round.
That's time! Fedotov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Fedotov thows a left - swing and a miss!
Fedotov is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Master's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Fedotov lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Fedotov jabs Master to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Master will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Master avoids the body shot from Fedotov.
Master takes one to the side of the head.
Nice jab there from Fedotov.
Master fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fedotov avoids it really well and circles away.
Good standup being displayed there by Fedotov as he connects with a hook.


Master is rocked!
Master defending well as Fedotov loads up on a big left hand.
Master is still on wobbly legs! Can Fedotov finish him?
Fedotov throws a hook but Master avoids it easily.
Fedotov scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Vyacheslav Fedotov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fedotov pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Master seems to have recovered his senses.
Fedotov scores with a punch to the head.
Fedotov slaps away a takedown attempt from Master, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Vyacheslav Fedotov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Malcolm Master.
Fedotov lands with a nice combination. Master backs away looking to recover.
Master is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Fedotov misses the body punch
letting Master counter with a right hand.
Master takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Fedotov walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Master drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Fedotov swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Master's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vyacheslav Fedotov!
Vyacheslav Fedotov bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
