Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Hector Hutchinson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Bolton! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hutchinson dives in and scores a takedown into Bolton's guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Bolton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hutchinson manages to get himself to full guard.
Bolton cracks Hutchinson with a solid left hand. Bolton scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Hutchinson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Bolton passes Hutchinson's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Bolton wants to pass to mount but Hutchinson is defending the position. Bolton trying to control from half guard but Hutchinson is working away. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bolton lands a nice short elbow. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hutchinson has hold of Bolton's hands but Bolton slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Bolton works his way into side control. Bolton in side control lands a decent elbow. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Bolton looks up at the clock and then as Hutchinson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bolton smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Hutchinson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Bolton connects with a decent elbow. Bolton tries to move to mount but Hutchinson blocks the move with his legs. Bolton controlling the position from side mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bolton lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hutchinson down.
Bolton working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Hutchinson is not content to let Bolton control the position. You can see the frustration on Hutchinson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Bolton has knee on belly and moves into mount. Hutchinson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Bolton lands with some strikes. Bolton dominating with strikes here. Bolton lands a nice shot to the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bolton lands a big elbow. Bolton lands a big shot to the head and Hutchinson winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Chris Bolton! After the fight, Chris Bolton was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
