PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Houston Warren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaiser Korga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kaiser Korga was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Houston Warren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kaiser Korga!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Steve Erwin and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Korga closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Warren's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Korga wants to control from the top but Warren keeps moving.
Korga won't allow Warren to sweep him here.
Warren trying to keep a closed guard but Korga is proving a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Houston Warren.

Korga moves into the clinch.
Warren drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Warren is trying to break the clinch but Korga is controlling him.

Korga's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Korga fails with an attempt to clinch.

Warren tries to clinch up but Korga circles away and keeps his distance.
Warren throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Korga closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Warren's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Korga accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Warren might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Warren is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kaiser Korga dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Korga tries to clinch there but Warren circles away.
Warren shoots in for a takedown but Korga shows good takedown defense.
Korga tries to close the distance and clinch but Warren swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Korga closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Korga.

Korga tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Warren tries to bum rush Korga with a series of wild strikes but Korga uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Korga has knee on belly momentarily but Warren bucks him off and regains half guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Warren shoots in looking for a takedown. Korga tries to sprawl out of it but Warren keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Korga manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Korga decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Houston Warren is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Warren rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Korga moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Warren gets tackled into the cage by Korga. Korga maintains the clinch.
Warren tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Korga avoids it.

Warren has Korga pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Warren pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Korga tumbling to the mat - Warren dives into Korga's guard.

Korga is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Warren is aware though and is defending well.

Kaiser Korga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Warren takes a kick to the side of the head.
Warren fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Korga looks to land a combination. Warren sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Warren shoots in but Korga avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Korga drives through with a takedown into Warren's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Warren doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Korga has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Warren enables Korga to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Warren manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kaiser Korga comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Korga has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
