Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between King Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mahmed Assoumi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King Diaz has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, King Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mahmed Assoumi! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Assoumi looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Assoumi avoids the head kick by Diaz.
Assoumi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Diaz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Diaz tries to buck Assoumi off but Assoumi is having none of it. Diaz struggling a bit here. Diaz gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Diaz is trying to get back to full guard. Diaz actively working from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Assoumi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Assoumi's back! Diaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. A lull in the action here.
Even with his hooks in, Diaz manages to miss with strikes from the back. Will Diaz go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. What can Assoumi do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Assoumi manages to reverse the position and now he's in Diaz's guard. Nice work there by Assoumi.

The ref stands the fighters back up because King Diaz just wasn't active enough. Assoumi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Diaz was covering up waiting for the punch and Assoumi finishes the takedown easily into guard. Assoumi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Assoumi defends it easily. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Diaz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Assoumi lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Diaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Assoumi is one step ahead there. Assoumi stands up from Diaz's guard - Assoumi perhaps looking for a knockout. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Diaz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
King Diaz dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Diaz blocks a head kick by Assoumi.
Diaz throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Mahmed Assoumi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Assoumi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Diaz works his way to full guard. Good work. Diaz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Assoumi's guard. Diaz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Assoumi is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Diaz wants to control from the top but Assoumi keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up because King Diaz just wasn't active enough. Assoumi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Diaz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Assoumi tries to clinch but fails miserably and Diaz counters with a stiff right hand. Assoumi pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Diaz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A lazy body kick from Assoumi and Diaz counters with an inside leg kick. King Diaz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Diaz throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Diaz closes the distance and clinches up with Assoumi, looking for a takedown. Diaz pushes Assoumi against the cage but Assoumi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Assoumi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Diaz is looking to improve his position.
Diaz moves into full guard.
Diaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Assoumi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz is trying to control the position from the bottom.

King Diaz dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Diaz lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Assoumi gets a double leg takedown into Diaz's guard. Diaz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Assoumi defends well. Assoumi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Assoumi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Assoumi's corner is telling him to maintain position. Assoumi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Assoumi is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Diaz looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Diaz being controlled here, momentarily. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mahmed Assoumi wasn't active enough on the ground. Diaz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Assoumi sprawls well initially but Diaz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Assoumi is trying to control but can't.
Diaz wants to control but Assoumi is keeping him busy. Diaz stands up out of the half guard. Assoumi looking to score a takedown here. Diaz is defending well but Assoumi drives through and ends up in Diaz's guard. Diaz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Assoumi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz working a defensive guard but Assoumi passes into half guard.
Diaz is looking to get back to full guard here but Assoumi has managed to pass to side control instead. King Diaz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Diaz is trying to control Assoumi's posture but Assoumi avoids it. Assoumi tries for a kimura but Diaz is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Assoumi taking a break here but Diaz is having none of it and regains half guard. Assoumi wants to advance to full mount but Diaz doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to King Diaz. Well Diaz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
