PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tristan Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshida Kotaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kotaro is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Dance Yourself Clean. On his way into the cage it seems that Tristan Lee has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Tristan Lee seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tristan Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Yoshida Kotaro!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Lee walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Lee gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kotaro.

Kotaro closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kotaro lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Lee changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kotaro fights it off and pushes away nicely.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kotaro creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Kotaro is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Lee works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Kotaro has his feet on Lee's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

The fighters circle momentarily. Kotaro darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Lee gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kotaro counters with a head kick.
Yoshida Kotaro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kotaro bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kotaro pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Lee back to the cage. Kotaro follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kotaro throws a head kick but Lee moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yoshida Kotaro dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Kotaro lands a really nice looking cross but Lee seems unphased.
Tristan Lee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lee throws a series of punches but Kotaro avoids them all with ease.
Kotaro lands with a slapping head kick.
Lee takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Kotaro smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Lee moves in looking to clinch but Kotaro pushes him off.

Lee takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Yoshida Kotaro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Kotaro has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kotaro uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Lee has time to react.
Kotaro is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Lee tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Lee has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kotaro is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Kotaro has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Lee - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Kotaro, and another! Lee is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Yoshida Kotaro!
