The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Felipe Paraventi and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sherman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kurse sprawls well initially but Sherman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kurse looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Sherman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kurse actively working from the bottom here.
Kurse is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sherman pulls his head out easily.
Sherman wants to control but Kurse is keeping him busy.
Sherman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kurse's head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sherman is just content to waste time from the top position. Kurse takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Sherman throws a big elbow that misses.
Sherman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kurse seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Sherman tries to free his leg and advance position but Kurse is retaining full guard.

Kurse working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sherman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sherman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kurse is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Sherman frees his head nicely. Oh but Kurse has switched to an armbar! Sherman is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
