PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Phil DaBaller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Rockstar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rockstar comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Defend With Violence - Throwdown kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil DaBaller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Rockstar!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rockstar gets caught napping as DaBaller dives in and scores a takedown. Rockstar manages to retain guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Rockstar is trying to keep DaBaller in close.

Rockstar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. DaBaller defends it easily.
Rockstar pulls DaBaller in close to his closed guard and prevents DaBaller from doing any damage or advancing position.
DaBaller trying to control but Rockstar is working from the bottom.
Rockstar pulls DaBaller in close to his closed guard and prevents DaBaller from doing any damage or advancing position.

DaBaller trying to control the position from guard on top but Rockstar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We're going to have a standup here because Phil DaBaller wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
DaBaller staying out of range there.
Rockstar throws a good cross that connects.
Rockstar blocks the body kick.

DaBaller defending well as Rockstar loads up on a big left hand.
DaBaller pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Phil DaBaller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
DaBaller drops his hands momentarily and Rockstar takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
DaBaller tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

DaBaller shoots in and gets a takedown into Rockstar's guard.
DaBaller controlling from the top position.
Rockstar seems keen to control DaBaller's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
DaBaller trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Rockstar is pulling down on DaBaller's head. It's preventing any offense from DaBaller, at least for the moment.
Rockstar looking to control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Luke Rockstar hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Rockstar misses with a looping left.
DaBaller shoots and misses
and Rockstar counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Horrible takedown by DaBaller or perhaps it was just good defense by Rockstar which made him look bad.
Rockstar dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Luke Rockstar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
DaBaller pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rockstar smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Rockstar bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of DaBaller's head.


DaBaller is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
DaBaller shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rockstar defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil DaBaller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
DaBaller loads up on a big right hand but Rockstar slips the punch.

Rockstar drops DaBaller with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but DaBaller looks back up at him and smiles so Rockstar waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh DaBaller is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
DaBaller misses the shot to the body.
DaBaller seems to have got his legs back now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
DaBaller takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rockstar lands a nice shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luke Rockstar dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fight stays on the outside here - Rockstar looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
DaBaller with a poor takedown
and Rockstar counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Rockstar stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Rockstar moves into range and connects with a jab.
DaBaller misses with a takedown attempt
and Rockstar counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Rockstar looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
A slow jab from Rockstar misses its intended target.
Phil DaBaller is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rockstar looks to land a right hand but DaBaller moved out of range.
Nice jab there from Rockstar.
DaBaller goes for a double leg but Rockstar avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rockstar continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil DaBaller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rockstar scores with a hook to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
DaBaller has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rockstar avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Nice body punch from Rockstar.
Rockstar stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
DaBaller takes a shot to the head.
DaBaller fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Rockstar lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down DaBaller.
Rockstar lands a shot to the body.

Rockstar lands a body shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rockstar softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Rockstar lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt DaBaller or not.
A nice left hand lands by Rockstar.
Rockstar lands a hook that snaps the head of DaBaller backwards.

Rockstar drops DaBaller onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! DaBaller is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Rockstar lands a big right hand that drops DaBaller! The killer instinct kicks in and Rockstar finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Rockstar!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Luke Rockstar!
Luke Rockstar seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
