Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jan Smeets (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bartosz Solomon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bartosz Solomon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jan Smeets!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bartosz Solomon!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paul Aken and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smeets has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Solomon.
Smeets looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Smeets throws a head kick that misses.
Solomon tries for a takedown but Smeets sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Solomon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Smeets tries to clinch but Solomon is having none of it.
Solomon tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smeets sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Solomon somewhat.
Solomon shoots in for a takedown but Smeets shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jan Smeets has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bartosz Solomon.

We've been told by Smeets's head coaches at Cozad Amsterdam that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Solomon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smeets, pushing him back against the cage.

Solomon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Smeets has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Solomon has managed to get both his arms back between Smeets's legs - danger averted.

Smeets might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Solomon enables Smeets to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Solomon manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Solomon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smeets's guard.
