Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matt Hold! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Coleman! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hold dives in and scores a takedown into Coleman's guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Hold wants to get up but he can't break Coleman's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Hold controls from within his opponent's guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Coleman can do anything to dispel that myth. Coleman has his hands on Hold's head, controlling the position. Hold stops Coleman from standing up. Hold trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hold distracts Coleman with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Hold wants to stand but Coleman has a closed guard, so he can't escape. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hold tries to free his leg and advance position but Coleman is retaining full guard. Hold stopping the sweep attempt from Coleman. Hold knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Coleman on the ground.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Hold misses with a low kick as Coleman jumps back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman stuffs the takedown attempt from Hold. Hold gets slowly back to his feet. Hold slaps away a takedown attempt from Coleman, before circling back to the center of the mat. Hold scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Hold trying to control the action but Coleman is working from the bottom. Hold working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hold is looking to take a break and control but Coleman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Coleman is trying to improve his position. Coleman gets back to half guard. Hold missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Coleman moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Hold looking to sit in guard and control but Coleman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Coleman trying to control but Hold is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hold is adopting a defensive guard. Coleman advances position into side control! Hold tries to get back to half guard but can't. Coleman fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Hold has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Coleman goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hold rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Coleman's guard! Nice work there by Hold! Coleman wants to stand but Hold is controlling the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hold is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Coleman keeping moving, preventing Hold from controlling successfully. Hold tries to free his leg and advance position but Coleman is retaining full guard. Hold is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Matt Hold has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Hold misses with a body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hold shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Coleman counters with a nice double leg into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Hold dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Coleman gets tackled into the cage by Hold. Hold maintains the clinch. Hold has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Coleman avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Coleman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hold gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Matt Hold has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Coleman. Hold has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Coleman uses from the top position. Coleman trying to control but Hold is working from the bottom. Hold wants to stand and escape but Coleman is having none of it. Coleman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman wants to control from the top but Hold keeps moving. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Hold here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Coleman throws a big elbow that misses. Coleman with a flurry of punches that miss. Hold working for a triangle but Coleman defends it easily.

Coleman missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Coleman is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Coleman connects with a nice short shot to Hold's temple. Coleman working Hold over with strikes. Coleman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Hold wants to control but Coleman is keeping busy and won't allow it. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hold tries to roll over but Coleman keeps him under control. Hold is not content to let Coleman control the position.

Coleman thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Hold is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Coleman lands with a punch from half guard. Hold is looking to get back to full guard here but Coleman has managed to pass to side control instead. Hold prevents Coleman from moving into mount. Coleman working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Hold is trying to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hold misses with an elbow from the bottom. Hold is trying to improve his position. Coleman throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Hold avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Coleman. You can see the frustration on Hold's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Coleman creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hold sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Coleman wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hold, who protects the arm well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Coleman wants to control but Hold is keeping him busy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Coleman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Hold tries to clinch up but Coleman circles away and keeps his distance. Hold is looking to clinch but Coleman is avoiding it.
Coleman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hold. Matt Hold is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Nice sprawl there from Coleman as Hold shoots in. Hold closes this distance looking for a takedown but Coleman circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Hold. That's going to take a lot out of him. Some wild striking there from Hold.
Hold with a poor takedown and Coleman counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Hold! Coleman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman working the ground and pound. Hold struggling a bit here. Coleman wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hold, who protects the arm well. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Hold on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Hold can't do much from the bottom here. Coleman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hold keeps working. Who's going to make the next move?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Coleman in side control lands a decent elbow. Hold wants to control but Coleman postures up. Coleman has hold of Hold's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Hold tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Coleman cranks the arm and Hold screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Hold, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
