The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nice combo by Laurier! Oh, that's hurt him - Mcgillicutty falls to the canvas and Laurier follows him into side control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mcgillicutty wants to control but Laurier postures up.

Laurier goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Mcgillicutty has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Laurier but great work by Mcgillicutty.

Mcgillicutty is looking to take a break and control but Laurier is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Laurier is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Mcgillicutty uses his free foot to push down on Laurier's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Laurier.
Laurier tries to lock up and control but Mcgillicutty gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Mcgillicutty has control of Laurier's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Laurier regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Laurier takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mcgillicutty bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Laurier! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
