Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Davidson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Aquino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davidson's entrance music is Dr. Dre - The Watcher. A fine choice. Aquino is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Come Clean - Jeru. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davidson connects with a right hand. Aquino shakes it off.
Jorge Aquino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Davidson misses with a shot to the body
and Aquino counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Aquino wants to lay and pray for a moment but Davidson keeps working.
Davidson wants to get back to his feet but Aquino drags him back down.

Aquino is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Aquino working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Aquino is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Davidson is just riding it out for now. Aquino eventually gives up the hold.
Aquino is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Davidson sees it coming and defends easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Davidson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Aquino is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Davidson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Davidson has escaped and now he's on top!

Aquino tries to close the distance and clinch up but Davidson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Aquino throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Davidson sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Aquino throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Davidson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Some bone on bone action there as Aquino checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Aquino throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Aquino takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Davidson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Davidson drops his hands momentarily. Aquino doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Davidson staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Davidson doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
